To name but a few:-
Vikings invaded
Angles invaded
Saxons invaded
Romans invaded
Normans invaded
French invaded
So who is invading now, a silent and stealth invasion but an invasion...
But to be English / British What's in a name..You trace your name through a heritage site only to find that you are the decendant of some immigrant.. So you going home!!!!? or are you home.
Unless you are of a celtic background ( who probably came from iceland in the first place) you ain't british.. BUT if you are a Celt.. then you want to stay Irish Scots Welsh or Cornish and NOT English
Even the royal family isn't English and neither was John Bull He was French decendant.

Not unless you want your economy crippled. Perhaps the flow of immigrants should be slowed down or put through a more rigorous check but to completely stop it would spell economic disaster. The growth of the UK economy has been out pacing the natural birth rate for some time and hopefully will continue to do so. Ideally only skilled, educated immigrants with sufficient wealth would ever be let in the UK, of couse that will never happen so we must take the bad with the good.

I do not personally know of any details or overview arguments of your situation, but.............
Here in the ole US of A, we have illegal immigration causing such a multitude of problems that the way of life for even our poor has drastically been altered. Are you having similar problems as well? You best get a handle on it very soon, or the quality of your life may change. Hopefully you are not having a people of a NEW language coming over and playing games with the systems in place, milking programs dry, increasing crime, bankrupting the medical system and causing all of our wages to fall!
Stand fast to what works best to keep your nation STRONG. We're drowning in Texas with this poison coming over our borders...hopefully you don't have idiots in power who refuse to acknowledge what is happening and looking the other way.

Well, I'm an American, so I don't know if my opinion really matters. In America, we have immigration run amok. But the problem really isn't immigration. The problem is illegal immigration and lack of assimilation.
In America, I have to learn Spanish, so I can communicate with my patients. They move here, live here for years, but don't bother to learn a word of English. I have to "press 1" for English when using an ATM or making a phone call.
People wanting to immigrate to Great Britain should do so illegally. They need to adopt British values and learn the Queen's English. Otherwise, go home.

Even if we wanted to stop all immigration it would be impracticable. You have to agree that some of the immigrants have become some of the richest and largest employers in the UK. I believe our National Health Service could not run without professional immigrants.

Many countries around the world are experiencing immigration issues. Making an educated decision regarding the best course of action is proving difficult. Unfortunately, even elected governments do not have the ability to appease all the inhabitants of their country. They are simply doing what is agreeable to the majority. Considering the burgeoning population, it is becoming increasing clear that most countries need to reconsider their immigration policies.

Good Question. Stopping ALL immigration would be wrong economically, socially and ethically. However it should be managed effectively perhaps by having limits on numbers or some sort of point system as they do in most other countries.

Absolutely,
they live on an island/limited resources and land
they have been generous as far as offering immigration for years.
to retain their nationality, culture and governing precepts, further dilution and additional input will simply complicate the standards of life current enjoyed by the current brits/ irish.
open generous societies are fine but no society serves its people when they do not periodically assess and take stock ..
