Yes, it actually is a sin in my religion. Soldiers who kill during war"after being attacked", is self defense, not premeditated. No sin in that.
Imagine. For those who say we are animals. Yes, that is true. But, there is a distinction between animals "in the wild" and animals as humans. Humans have intellect, a brain. We invented computers. Animals that freely attack and kill each other do so in order to survive, eat. That's natural animal food chain. Why do humans kill? To physically survive? No comparison. The question now is, since humans are animals, why DO we NOT go and murder?

No, they are not the same thing.
Both may be evil, and a soldier may murder an enemy. But there is a fundamental difference between murder and killing as an act of war.

Which is why our denomination encourages CO1 status when joining the military, where you take a position, such as medical, where you won't be expected to take up arms. We believe that even killing during war is murder, and should be avoided.

It's in your heart. Murdering someone is a lot different than defending your country even if we were attack twice before responding. I'm sorry but I don't want to worry about my love ones everyday. Maybe they will think twice about attacking us again.

Read your Bible. There are times as in self protection and war that killing is justified. Never cold bloodedly taking anothers life but "thou shalt not kill" has been around as long as justifiable homicide. I know it is not a popular opinion, but it is mine.
