I've had it more than once and there's nothing much the doctors can do for you. However, I found that if I took major vitamin C whenever I had a fever that the fever went down faster than if I took an aspirin. Also, I went into the doctors and got a vitamin B-12 shot once a week (in the bum) and it gave me my energy back. The weird thing was they give you the shot in your bum and within 2 minutes you can taste the vitamins. Strange.

I"m guessing that "glandular fever" is the same as mononucleosis, or infection by the Epstein Barr virus. You could also be describing "chronic fatigue syndrome". Whatever the case, the health of the immune system will determine how long this lingers. It sounds like your body is on the upswing right now, which is a good thing. That you are feeling annoyed is also a really good sign of healing or recovering. Continue to take care of yourself by drinking lots of fluids...water, juices and eat well. Exercise is also a good treatment and you can decide how much or how little you want to do. Take it easy at first, then, build up to your presickness level. Hang in there.

i had it a few years ago, had 2 weeks off that was it but only tired, no swollen glands. was workin 9-5 leavin 8.30 gettin back at 6. some days by 7 i was asleep til at least 10 maybe 11 then i wld go bed and sleep til i got up for work again. if i ever made it awake to watch CSI at 9 i would last only first part lol. it is hard, spesh if no visible symptoms sept tiredness to try and explain it. it's something that takes time to heal, nothin docs can give (which is annoying in itself lol) and really takes it out of you. i hope u get better soon.
mine lasted 9 months ish as at first docs th8 i had tonsilitis and had me on meds for that lol

Being off work for two months is about normal for glandular fever. That was how long I was off work for when i got it.
Take it easy, rest and relax. Glandular fever takes tie to get over fully and being tired with it is normal.

You poor thing,I had that for months during my A-levels and failed cos I was drained the whole time and just couldn't cope, ended up collapsing aswell through exhaustion. It will take time to wear off and there's not alot anybody can do about it,I was advised to take loads of vitamin tablets.
It lasted about 6-7 months but everybody's different.
All I can do is sympathise, until people have had it they don't realise 'how' drained you feel. Hope you feel better in time!
I assume you're talking about the same strain. Most people here are talking of the one where your glands swell up for a couple of weeks, the one I had, cos you've had it so long, sounds like the one I had.My glands didn't swell up like balloons,it was the sheer exhaustion I had for months that got me to the docs for a blood test.

Takes ages to feel normal - I had it a few years ago. Seem to remember at least 6 months before I quit sleeping in the afternoon!
