Of course, it is illegal. I don't think anybody fails to understand that at all.
Sometimes people do things they know are illegal. Don't you?
Do you obey every law just because it's a law? You never ever drive faster than the speed limit? You report change you find on the ground on your income tax? My point is that some people who use illegal drugs don't do it "because other people do it," but because they believe they have a right to do it even though the law says they shouldn't.
Sometimes things are OK even if it is against the law.

After having worked in narcotics for the past 20 years, I can say I've seen just about everything illicit drugs do to individuals, friends, families, and communities.
To say any illicit drug is OK to use...is absurd when you're on the outside looking in! Sadly, many on drugs today do not see themselves as others see them.
Methamphetamine, for instance, is one drug causing serious problems. Marijuana may not be what some refer to as a "hard drug" but who knows whats put inside the weed prior to buying it from some dope dealer off the street.
What many also fail to realize is the environment one places themselves in when buying illicit drugs. You may think you're dealing with one person while unknown to you another sits in hiding waiting to injure or kill you just for what they THINK is in your wallet!
You also hear irrational excuses about how cigarettes and alcohol are more dangerous and marijuana never killed anyone. I beg to differ and have the statistics available on line to prove otherwise where there are documented deaths from marijuana.
People will argue till the cows come home how drugs should be legalized, however, I'm not prepared to pay for the medical treatment or incarceration for all the crime caused by illicit drug use.
Just my humble opinion!

You never used drugs? Never had a drink of alcohol, a cigarette, or a cup of coffee? Fat chance. Illegal drugs would be a little more realistic.
Not to mention on average drivers break the law 4-5 times per day (depending on the source). A bit hypocritical are we?
You are entitled to your own opinion, but frankly let other people do what they choose, it's their body after all. Your holier than thou attitude is disgusting and clearly demonstrates how much of a dolt you truly are.

To me. (an occasional pot smoker), some things like alchohol, that kills people in MANY different ways is legal. Smoking cigarettes loaded with arsenic and other poisons that Kill you are legal.
This causes me concern in regards to many laws, like really, they pick and choose at random what drugs should or should not be legal. Many people abuse prescriptions as well which are ten times more dangerous than something like marijuana.
I don't understand the laws and "they" cant explain em, so to me. They are ignorant and really I have no time to waste on ignorance.
In fact, I'm gonna smoke a fatty right now,
CHEERS TO MARY JANE! AND TO THE MEXICANS! Man those guys know how to party!

I am not exactly sure what you are referring to because you are making some extreme generalizations, but I will answer for me personally. I only use one illegal substance--marijuana, and I think it should be legal because it does not hurt anyone and we have too many people locked up for nonviolent things like smoking pot. I do not think that PCP is okay because it not only hurts the user, but it can endanger the people around the user. I also do not condone drinking and driving. It has nothing to do with "other people doing it".
Get off your high horse.
P.S. What is that racist comment supposed to mean?

Prohibition didn't work. The war on drugs will never end drug abuse or addiction. It's big business for prisons and law enforcement, and a means of controling the population. Reading suggestion: Ain't nobody's business if you do. by Peter McWilliams.

No, addicts are addicted to the substance -- and will often exploit anyone or anything to support their habit.
Making it a morality question only makes you feel better. Its illegal because it destroys people's lives, and as a socity people will not fix the problem by jailing junkies.

I wonder at what point they put up the no vacancy sign at Ellis Island..
This is more of a subjective issue based on what propoganda is affecting perception and forming what is legal or not legal. You really need to step out of your little box and try to understand the world.

If it is Marijuana then they are failing to understand why it is illegal because no one has ever died for being under the influence but if it is some other Drug they want to know why it wasn't always illegal if it was really that bad.
