The managers are going to make an announcement on Monday, that they going to have to let us go.

Because the company is not making any money

I have looked at the contract and there is no mention of time they are allowed to give when they are terminating a contract

One manager told me that I may have 2 weeks as I have been with the company for a year

Could someone advise me?

ITS SAYS ON ACAS ''You need to have completed 2 full years of service since the age of 18'' does that mean that I have had to of been with the company for 2 years, or the fact that I have been working since 18?

Its two full years with the same employer to qualify for a redundancy pay

Im afraid when it comes to the company not making money....notice is always short. You do not have a case for a tribunal on this. Because if they cant pay you to work then logically they cant pay you compensation for short notice

What you will be entitled to instead (and this is what the manager has already told you) is pay in lieu of notice. In your case (less than two years service) will be one additional weeks gross pay

If you are in the UK, the Citizens Advice Bureau will advise. Doesn't sound like you're in a union, but if you are, they will advise. But don't take the manager's word for it - his interests are not yours. Sorry this has happened to you just before Christmas, mate - best of luck in the New YEAR

during the first 12 months you can be dismissed without notice. after 12 months and if over the age of 18 you accrue 1 weeks pay for every years service up to the age of 41 when it increases to 1.5 weeks per years service over 41. you should be entitled to 1 weeks pay in lieu your week in hand and any holiday pay due

Ask your local Citizens Advice Bureau. Unfortunatly though, even with a tribunal the outcome is rarely enforced. I won one and the company never paid up.

I think it is 1 week for every year you have been there, but check out ACAS website, they are the experts. Good luck.
