it is the concept of giving all the little and insecure minds a bit of hope, that they are "saved" in the eyes of the Lord. Seems to offer some kind of cop-out when they have been sinners and assures them that they will not be punished in the afterlife. Man, when you think about it, the Christians have it pretty good...I mean, they can be horrible people and do awful things all their life, because if they are saved, then all is good in the eyes of their God. And to think this whole time, we atheists have to be good and decent to everyone all of our lives because no one is going to save us...boy, do we have it all mixed up, or what?

We don't have a soul, we are a living soul...When God created our first parent, Adam. He created Adam from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils, and he became a living soul/a living being.
Spirit (Breath of God) + Body = Living Soul..
If you're a believer in Christ, then when you die, you will sleep, until the first resurrection, when Jesus comes back again, the dead in Christ, will be raised to life, and the ones that will be living, will be caught into the clouds to meet the Lord in the air..
Many people in the world, today are confused about this, is that because they listen to the teachings of mankind, and don't read and study the Bible themselves...to approve themselves knowledgeable.. The Word of God is truth, and when you find the truth, the truth will set you free...

A) that has not been established. Scripture is clear that all rest in their graves awaiting a resurrection. Either the resurrection of the righteous, or of the wicked. You don't have a soul. You are a soul. The soul ceases to exist.

I'm not sure what happens when you die but it did have a crazy thing happen to me. i fell a sleep on the couch and some how my arms started to lift up from my body and then my head i looked around the room and could see down the hallway and everything else around me. when i was looking around it was blurry but i could still see. someone made a noise and i woke up. i think i had an out of body experience, I'm not sure...

Your spirit goes back to God:
Ecc 12:6 - 12:7 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Well i'm not a christian, but in my belief, after you die youre stuck inside your dead body for 3 days i think. then on the 3rd day, an angel comes and rips your soul out of your body which is painful (and everyone has to experience the pain of death), then the angel takes you to a resting spot, and you rest or at least try to rest until the day of judgement when you'll be risen up from your resting spot to experience your ever lasting life. Only GOD knows what happens to you after your trial.

You're guess is as good as mine.
I have no idea what will happen.
All we have are ideas not certain facts.
What I beleive might not necessarily be the truth.
But I have faith I will go to Heaven anyway.

Death
Definition: The ceasing of all functions of life. After breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity stop, the life-force gradually ceases to function in body cells. Death is the opposite of life.
Where are the dead?
Gen. 3:19: “In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Eccl. 9:10: “All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol [“the grave,” KJ, Kx; “the world of the dead,” TEV], the place to which you are going.”
What is the condition of the dead?
Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”
Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts [“thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “all his thinking,” NE; “plans,” RS, NAB] do perish.”
John 11:11-14: “‘Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.’ . . . Jesus said to them outspokenly: ‘Lazarus has died.’” (Also Psalm 13:3)
Is there some part of man that lives on when the body dies?
Ezek. 18:4: “The soul [“soul,” RS, NE, KJ, Dy, Kx; “man,” JB; “person,” TEV] that is sinning—it itself will die.”
Isa. 53:12: “He poured out his soul [“soul,” RS, KJ, Dy; “life,” TEV; “himself,” JB, Kx, NAB] to the very death.” (Compare Matthew 26:38.)
See also the main headings “Soul” and “Spirit.”
Are the dead in any way able to help or to harm the living?
Eccl. 9:6: “Their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.”
Isa. 26:14: “They are dead; they will not live. Impotent in death, they will not rise up.”

You have a funeral, a cremation/burial and then you rot down and feed the Earth with nutrients.
