YUP, back to the crazy friend. I am bored at work- me and my friend (who is in her wedding) our fighting over how many people are going to show up for her wedding.
It's just for fun (yeah, I am a B- I already know) And I am completely bored at work today! LOL
1. No invites yet- wedding is Jan 19th
2. 75% of the guest list is out of state
3. New England is getting lots of snow this year.
4. It's right after the holidays.
5. This is a redo wedding (she already married)
6. Only 17 people came to her shower and she invited like 60.
7. She short 6 grand so no one knows if the wedding is really happening...
8. She really doesn't have any close friends and is inviting EVERYONE she has ever known since childhood.
9. Not everyone gets a date!!
Facts- she is inviting 189 and thinks def. 147 will show. My friend thinks maybe 100 will show. I think 60 people might show. What your guess?
Hint- You figure from the shower 34 people will def show.

I tell you how many after Jan 20th.. but this is just for fun and lets see who gets the closest.
Best answer will be because of your reasoning on why you think that many will show!!

I'm thinking that the wedding party is going to be about it. With dates and parents, my guess is going to be a total of 35. If she doesn't come up with the 6k she can always check if the birthday room at McDonalds is available, I think they even supply invitations and a cake!. ;)

Yay! Crazy friend update!
Let's see, she invited 60 to the shower and only 17 showed which makes that roughly a quarter of invitees. Apply that to the actual wedding which is 189 which we'll round up to about 190 for a good calculation. Usually only about half of the people you invite will show to a NORMAL wedding. Since this chick's event is anything but normal, I'll have to agree with you and say somewhere between 60 and 80 will show.

Less than 40.
1. invites aren't even out
2. out of state needs more time off to get there, flights will be more expensive, etc.
3. New England!
4. not that big of a deal IMO.
5. another not big of a deal, people do renewals all the time.
6. this to me means nothing since you said 75% of them are out of state.
7. yikes! this doesn't really fit in yet either, she's got time.
8. this would. if a friend I didn't know for eons asked me to their wedding and I'm out of state, I wouldn't go.
9. so? usually the reception site limits the guest list. I could see people inviting fiance's or husbands but not "and guest" or kids. not an indicator either.
So I say 40. how many are in the area?

I would say 65-70; here's my reasoning: Usually 70-75% of people invited show up. She had about half show up at her shower (which is usually the people you're closest to). I would say a little under half will show up since she hasn't even got the invites out.
If I was on the guest list and received an invitation this late, I would assume I am b-list and either not go, or get her a crappy present.

I think 30. Mostly because Jan 19 is just after the holidays and most people arent looking to drive out of state with the gas prices as they are, plus buy a gift. Not to mention the fact that none of her "friends" seem to like her. Also her invitations and plans seem rather haphazard, and people can pick up on that. They probably figure its not a big deal, just a silly party shes throwing (which it is). The ones that do show up will probably be friends of the groom LOL. Plus her bridesmaids of course!

I'm gonna say maybe around 90. Only if the RSVP date didn't pass. There is still time on the late ones to come in. I'm sure she will be hussling to get as many people there as she can so she doesn't look like a fool. How devastating. I'm glad I am close to my family and friends, I'm inviting around 200, hopefully some wont show hahaha. Have fun, cant wait to see the actual answer.

I bid 52. That's a rough 25% estimate of 189. Seeing as the holidays are coming up everyone's credit card will be maxed. With such a late invite, very few if any will be able to plan an out of state trip.

Put me down for 53 people. Is this going to be like Price is Right? Whoever guesses closest without going over wins the prize? ROFLOL!!!!
Oh, you want the reasoning behind the guess--I think she'll be lucky to get 25% there. Rounding up to 190 that's about 47 people....I'll throw in a few extra for the "obligatory" attendees.
And, we should DEFINITELY do this for real the week of the wedding....like a wedding pool!! LOL

Hi Bubbles....
Oh good...another update!
Well, I see no one put this down so I will go with a firm 51.
I don't think any of the out of state people will attend. You said it was 75% out of state...so that is 141 guests.
189 minus 141 = 48 and I will throw 3 more in for good measure.
Do you think she will throw in the towel after this weekend's shower? Too bad your mutual friend won't be going so we can get an update. Maybe once her RSVP's for the wedding start coming back in with lots of zeros, she will cancel the whole thing!
Keep us updated.
