I'm 19, and an falling for a girl in my life, who is 16 (17 in 4 months). i'm not even interested in sex with her. she's amazing. just being around her makes me happier than i've been with anyone else. the last relationship i got out of was with an 18yr old and was very sexual. it crashed and burned after a pregnancy scare. i'm not looking to add that stress to her life, let alone a relationship. all i'm interested in is her companionship, her open arms, just to know that shes there, and i'm hers. she turns 17 in <4 months. some people have told me to wait, but as i have approval from her parents, and am not interested in having sex with her, i do not see the problem with persuing a relationship now. what should i do?

for all those screaming statutory rape...in the state i live... the age difference between us, and the fact that shes over the age of 15 (but still under 17) would provide me with an affirmative defense. Affirmative defenses are those in which the defendant introduces evidence which negates criminal liability. so its not a legal issue. its a moral thing. ***should i just stick it out as friends till shes 17? or try to start a relationship now***

Continue to date her; but always show her love and respect. You already know of the possible consequences of a sexual relationship. Don't ruin a good thing for both of you. Of course it's easier said than done; but well worth the sacrifice for both of you.

This is no big thing, it's only 2-3 years difference. If you are a good guy and the parents are cool with it, enjoy yourselves.
I dated girls 2-3 years older, including college girls when I was in high school. Table turned there! Older girls, younger guys...not so much an issue then.
I also was engaged to my high school sweetheart, and she was 2 yrs & 3 months younger. Her parents knew we had sex when she was 15...I think her mother's response was great, instead of scolding her and I, she asked her if I was good.
These were not trailer park white trash people either, they were educated white collar job holding people. I think she just didn't want to push her daughter away and destroy any trust and future conversation.

If you really like her, you should go out with her. I don't see why not. I mean she's 16 and your 19. That's only a three years difference. you have the approval of her parents. Now all you need is her love. Good luck!

relax man wait a couple months and let the relation ship grown. age doesnt matter i mean most parents arent the same age so why is it different when your younger. I think at least wait until she is 17 so its more werid but dont rape her and only if she want to have sex you should do that

eh. Society is too weird now. I dated a 19 year old when I was 16. It was not a big deal, and my family was very proper/strict. Now, though, if you look at a 16 year old, they throw you to the wolves. My grandma got married when she was 16 and my grandpa was 26! Oh, my how times have changed. :)

There's nothing wrong with you being 19 and her being 16. My boyfriend are like 2 years apart and there's nothing wrong in our relationship. It doesn't matter what age you are as long as you love each other than thats all that matters.

lol. I say go for it. It may seem like a big difference now but think about it 10 years from now...29 and 26...not that big of a difference. If her parents are okay with it and you dont plan on having sex then go for it!

If the parents are ok with it, what is the dilemma? Also keep in mind, at some point, it can turn sexual and there are some parents who change their minds on their feelings when they see fit. She is still a minor and the law is the law. I would be concerned about that.

It would be considered statutory rape.
However, you really can't help who you like. Sometimes, it's something you can't change, even if you tried.
If you guys feel strongly enough for each other to not care what others think, then go for it. But don't be too exclusive because her parents woud have a lot of power in this situation since their daughter is a minor.
