You can, but do you really want a hard floor in a bedroom? I have hardwood flooring and tile throughout my house, except for the bedrooms, which are carpeted. The reasoning for this is that a carpeted floor is a lot warmer than a hardwood or laminate floor. Remember, you'll be rolling out of bed on cold mornings and it's much nicer to walk on carpet than a cold, hard floor.
Another consideration is the noise. Carpeting and the pad absorbs sounds that would just bounce around the room with a hard surface flooring.
One compromise would be to install the flooring, but have a good sized area rug either under and around the bed, or covering most of the floor (up to about 2 or 3 feet from the wall). That way, you can have the benefit of carpeting, but it won't be permanent and you can change out the rug to fit your decor, should it change later.

You can have laminate in about any room in the house. I would love to have some in my bedroom, I find it a better alternative to carpet.

yes but it has a downfall if owt goes wrong with your down stairs lighting to get at the wiring you will need to lift the laminate aswell as floor boards. ps they not as cold as you think you can get a textured board

I would'nt like to be in the room below in view of the noise transmission, you can hear a cup being placed on the floor.

You can, but you're better off with a carpet, it'll be cold in there otherwise.
