A cyst is a fluid filled sac, normally soft and painless.
A boil is caused by an infection, (usually staphlococcus). It starts like a big spot and grows, gets red and painful and fills with pus. It will often come to a 'head', become acutely painful, and burst.

boil is usualy filled with fluid and is caused by inflamation, of a oil or sweat gland,cysts are usualy hard but arent caused by infection
