The Hebrew slaves were asked to leave Egypt. They came to the Red Sea and God parted the waters for them to cross safely. The Egyptians changed their minds and came after them with their army. God held the sea until the whole army was in the middle, then covered them with the water, drowning the army. Just a thumbnail explanation.
Here is a very interesting link that shows evidence for this event:

Yes...Pharoah finally let Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt. They left in haste, not even waiting for their bread to rise. As they reached the Red Sea, the Egyptians were persuing them because Pharoah regretted his decision to let them go. Moses raised his hand with his staff in it and God parted the Red Sea so that the Israelites could cross on dry land. The Egyptians followed closely behind. When all of the Israelites were across, Moses lowered his staff and the waters returned, drowning the Egyptian army.

Yeah God put a 'cloud' between Pharaoh etc and the Israelites so Pharaoh and soldiers were in darkness for a while so Moses & Israelites had a bit of time to cross. And there were about 3 million Israelites aye! Amazing.

Yes.
Moses fleeing Egypt with the Jews. The Pharaoh let him go, then changed his mind. Jews at the Red Sea, Pharaoh's men bearing down on them, no escape, Moses raises hands, says basically, "In the name of God, part!," sea parts, Jews run through to the other side, Pharaoh's men try to go through after them, but Jews are safe on the other side, sea un-parts and drowns Pharaoh's men.

Moses stuck his staff over the waters, they parted, the Israelites marched through on dry land, the Egyptians followed on chariots, Moses stuck his staff over the waters again, the waters crushed the Egyptians and they all drowned.

I wasn't there, but I imagine it was really the Sea of Reeds. Moses parted the reeds allowing his people to escape. Then closed them to confound Pharoahs army. It's suppose to be some sort of a miracle, somehow.
