A small, flat-shooting bullet. Good for hunting small to medium game. Not good for home defense (unless you want to be a sniper). I would agree that the best home defense weapon is a shotgun, preferably a pump action. Next choice is a double barrel. There are now some 410 gauge, 5-shot revolvers on the market, made by Taurus. These revolvers are very effective - believe me.

I dont know about that cartridge. I have seen that show but im kinda an old fashioned shooter. For the home, a shotgun. for the hunt (depending on the size of game) 7.62 to .308. Those are the only shots i use anyways!

Not a military question at all!!

How anybody who can think a rifle would be good for "home defence"! is beyond me, a shotgun or a pistol would be my first choice, for a rifle to be viable you would want to be picking targets out at 80 yards and that is not "home" defence.

for home defense I have a Winchester 12 ga magnum with OO buckshot. And my Beretta 92FS with 147 grain semi jacket soft points.

For hunting, OK med caliber - for home defense it would suck, too much penetration, would go right thru walls/windows and maybe hit the neighbors.

Best home defense is a 12ga shotgun.
