Pretty easy, just hood to the cable, Then hook too your HDTV via Component (red, green, blue) and Audio (red, white) or if you have, and the box has HDMI the one cable will do sound and audio, it's the easiest way to hook up. If you buy a HDMI cable just get the cheapest one out there they are all the same and an expensive one will not make your picture look any better. Enjoy!

This is pretty typical. The same setup i got from my HD cable provider. Here's why...HD cable providers only send out a max resolution of 1080i. Which is the max resolution of what component cables(red/blue/green) can carry. HDMI cables can carry up to 1080p, but since the signal is only in 1080i, a HDMI cable would be overkill! There's no reason to use HDMI when the max resolution is 1080i! YOU WON'T SEE A DIFFERENCE! A lot of answerer's on this website still cannot grasp this concept! They always think that HDMI is always the best! The only true 1080p high-def sources available right now are Blu-ray, PS3, Xbox 360 and very few satellite HD providers! This is where HDMI would be the preferred cable to use!

yes but you have to subscribe to the HD service also of course and that may take some time for the cable company to sort out. if you want HD right away and your TV has an HD receiver you can go to walmart and by a cheap HD antenna and the necessary cable and catch your local stations that broadcast in HD.

Yup, just walk-in there and exchange it for an HD cable box. They will give you component cables too if you ask them..

Don't forget to buy those hdmi cables too. The regular kind will do.

Call your cable company first.

Mine would not let me hook up my own. Too many problems with people not knowing how to set their TV up for HD video. The tech also had to activate the unit and they dont normally let customers do this.

Also - Lots of people are getting HDTV's and I suspect many companies are running out of box's. Making an appointment tends to get you a box.
