they are 2 very different things. think about it.
as s/he/it says: love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek, humility, do not kill, etc.
as s/he/it does: punishes, prideful (a "jealous" god), murders, etc.
to name but a few inconsistencies

Doesn't make any sense, does it? And just think, the actions described are all human characteristics. Why would a "loving" god murder anyone. I agree - very inconsistent.

Don't know if "god" wants anything from us, but I always let my conscience ( the result of a Catholic childhood) be my guide, and I believe in living out Golden Rule. That's all.

If we do as God says... it would encompass everything He says to do. Likewise, if we do as God does... that too would encompass everything. This being the case, We, as a species, lack omnipotence and omniscience. We also lack the ability to produce a "perfect" creation. Furthermore, we lack spiritual maturity. Perhaps when we as a species achieve these, we will then be Gods ourselves... perhaps.

Well as you can't do the first one, (when was the last time you created something from "a void?) best concentrate on the second -- and even that we aren't able to do. Remember: all have sinned? So, do your best and rely on Christ...

Do what He says. The problem you are having is that you are thinking of God as just an equal. In case you haven't noticed, He's not our equal.

I think we should do as God says.
One such thing to do would be to love one another. I think this includes not trying to be deliberately obtuse in order to challenge another's beliefs.

Both, what he says is what he does and his justice is coupled with love because he can read hearts we can't. so if he says do something we should, to the best of our imperfect ability that is.

I think we should do as God does, and continue to preserve life instead of crushing it into pizza, don't you?
