I was engaged to a guy for awhile however he broke the engagement because he says I don't meet his social standards after thinking it over while we where engage he gave me his 2007 Acura TL which he put in my name so I could use to go visit my family in mexico and go to work however I have been trying to contact him to give him the car back for weeks but he doesn't respond. I don't want the car because I will be living in a small fishing village with my previous boyfriend who's a fishermen and who most of the time is barefoot. I'm being self consious because I feel bad for a beautiful car like that to be driven barefoot by my boyfriend some say the car can come in handy but I don't know please advice.

I think it's a good idea to return the car, because keeping such an expensive gift can make him feel like he has a claim on you later on. But I don't see what your bf driving barefoot has to do with anything -in spite of persistent myths, there is nothing wrong or illegal about driving barefoot. If you feel uncomfortable about your current bf using it, understandable, but his footwear or lack thereof is totally irrelevant.

Yes, make one last effort to reach him and tell him that you want to return the car. Then if he doesn't respond in a reasonable time, give it to charity. Incidentally, since you're trying to return a present he gave you while you were engaged, and you have a legal right to keep it, you're already showing a great deal of class (and will show even more if you give the car to charity), so I can't imagine why he said YOU don't meet HIS social standards.

To be on the safe side, write him a letter and explain that you have been trying to contact him about what to do with the Acura. Explain what you would like to do with the car, and then tell him that if he objects and would prefer that you give him the car back, he should contact you within two weeks (specify a date) so that you can arrange to get the car back to him. To be really safe, have the letter sent certified mail or express mail, to have proof that you notified him of your intentions.

If you don't hear from him by the deadline, you are free to do as you please with a clean conscience.

I agree with Sherri M, something smells bad here besides bare feet.
If this is on the level, keep the car and don't look back.

If the car is in your name and he does not return your calls, sell the car - it is yours.

Drive it back to him and get a bus ride home. You can wash your hands of it and you won't have any reasons for him to call you.
What does bare feet have to do with anything?

If you really want to return it then you should keep trying to get in touch with him. i consider it a gift so if it were me i'd keep it. i mean, if he hasnt asked for it back yet then maybe he doesnt wantr it back?

If it's in your name, the former owner won't answer your calls, and you don't need or want it, just sell it!
