From the questions I asked and the good answers I've received, yes even Anthropogenic Global Warming believers, feel that even if we can slow the increasing CO2, which is what they believe is causing Global Warming, they feel our Climate will continue to get warmer.

One of the main worries is that the Oceans and Sea levels will rise do to Ice Melting from the Polar regions.

Increased droughts

And that where we grow crops will change.

(I'm only mentioning things we have control over.)

So how can we deal with these things?

(To help think Army Corp of Engineers. Aquaducts in Rome. Basicly think of wonderous things man has built in the past. I helped with this question when I asked about whether man changed water levels in the ocean.)

Lori - Nice points, but what about building large reservoirs in our deserts to hold a lot of the extra sea water that is expected if Global Warming continues? We as humans have built magnificent things and we have major advancements in engineering. We should use that knowledge to our advantage.

I'm not sure how much of the deserts on our planet are just wasted land, but I feel if is a good portion of it, why shouldn't we use it to keep ocean and sea levels close to where they are now?

Well for starters, it's important to first address the source of the problem. If we reach a certain tipping point, certain feedbacks (i.e. oceans releasing CO2, methane released from melting permafrost, etc.) will cause a runaway greenhouse effect which will accelerate global warming beyond our control. Scientists have proposed that some of these tipping points may be roughly 3-4°C warmer than now, which we could easily reach before the end of the century.

Now to your question about adaptation. I think for one thing we should have fewer people living on the coasts, since they'll likely continue to be hit by stronger hurricanes. I'm very wary of rebuilding New Orleans because I fear it will simply be destroyed again at some point in the future.

We need to do a better job of conserving our resources, particularly water. There are several locations in the US (i.e. Arizona, Atlanta, Las Vegas) with serious water shortages which are seeing the largest population growth in the country. This makes no sense to me.

I think the wealthier countries which will see the least impacts from climate change should do what they can to help the poorer countries which will see greater impacts, especially since the wealthy countries are the main source of the problem.

I think we may have to relax our immigration laws to allow people to move more freely if their homeland becomes uninhabitable due to climate change - in particular people living on island nations.

Those are some ideas off the top of my head.

I think, as a people, we will continue to point our fingers at everyone else and scream and yell that the problem is someone else's, not ours as we desperately try to slow down something that we can never hope to stop (nor, probably, should we stop).

I think our money, time and efforts as a people (not as individuals...I could preach on and on about individual stewardship of the earth...those who scream the loudest about what everyone else should do don't seem to be the ones who ARE being good stewards of the earth. Talk is cheap.) should be spent on planning how we should adapt to this inevitable occurrence.

Cities need to be moved gradually away from the seas. Migration is going to be necessary and on a large scale as whole cities, and in some cases countries WILL be underwater.

Growing seasons need to be adapted and water planning needs to be put into long term affect for some areas. Emergency procedures for changes in weather need to be decided and implemented.

Currently, we are wasting our time. We will need to adapt (like any other species) or many will die off. We need to accept the natural cycle of the Earth and allow her to go through it. We can't change her to suit our needs.

If it incredibly warmed up we would start to word much less chilly climate at extreme latitudes. that could take fairly some warming, probably 5-10 C or greater.the quantity of warming that we've skilled so a techniques isn't sufficient to keep away from chilly climates from experiencing chilly climate. chilly climate would not take place because of the fact of international warming no longer going on or because of the fact of "international climate disruption." by using a mix of organic and synthetic aspects, the Earth has warmed via a pair of million C over the final century, so a place which will have been waiting to anticipate -40 C ought to now anticipate -39 C.

Look, climate change, if it becomes drastic, will have results come about in the same way that they always have. The strong will survive, the weak will die. This is the way nature works.

Climate changes are such a slow thing, not like on television. I doubt you will be affected, nor your great great great grandchildren. This hype reminds me of a couple of events in the past, 1. was the catastrophes that would follow the year change to 2000. Never happened, media hype. Media will do what ever they have to do to sell news.

I think man will adapt by growing gills. This is the way man will evolve to cope with rising sea levels and floods that will hit earth because of man made global warming.

There is no need to adapt to anything, Global Warming is a left wing farce. Relax and enjoy your life.

Didn't Kevin Costner grow webbed feet in "Waterworld"?

Maybe that flop was prescient after all...
