An indoor cat doesn't "need" the leukemia test - it is mostly for your peace of mind to know she isn't infected. If she is infected, there isn't anything you can do about it anyway, except keep her away from other cats to prevent spreading it, and let her live her life (some cats carry it and never get sick from it).
The leukemia test should be done when bringing a new cat into a household of uninfected cats, and if a cat gets sick and hasn't been tested, it will need to be tested.
At the first vet visit, the kitten needs a complete physical exam, a deworming, her first distemper (3 in 1) shot, and if she is older than 3 months, a rabies shot.

Yes an indoor kitten should get the Feline leukemia or feline aids test. The reason for that is that you may not be sure where the kitten came from. Keline leukemia is very contagious among cats and there is no cure. For the kittys sake and the sake of other kittys, get him tested.
Here is a list of vaccines and the age of the kitten when they need them. Good luck.

Because it can be transmitted through contact with another indoor/outdoor cat. The shots that are needed are ones for things like feline lukemia, as well as ones for multiple other infections.

The kitten needs to have the attempt for leukemia before he gets any vaccination for that ailment. you should appreciate if the kitten has the ailment, and in case you attempt after the 1st vaccination for it you should get a pretend-helpful. It occurred to my pal's cat. i do no longer understand why any vet would not attempt before giving a universal vaccination for it, yet curiously some do. in the experience that your cat would be an interior-basically cat, IMO you do no longer ought to vaccinate for something besides rabies, and distinctive vets accept as true with that view. it would be lots safer on your cat to stay indoors; mine do and that they are very pleased. in case you propose to enable your cat outdoors, you should vaccinate for leukemia, by using fact there is too lots possibility in any different case that your cat ought to settlement it from strays. yet i might unfold the vaccinations out - a cat could have a bad reaction to one vaccine, or from getting too many at as quickly as. additionally, in the experience that your kitten isn't fastened yet, you will ought to have that finished at approximately 5 - 6 months of age. have relaxing with your new kitty!

My kittens never got a leukemia "test", because if you get them their first shots at 8-9 wks, they still have their immunities from their mom. The first visit, they get shots for feline respiratory infections (FVRCP) and feline leukemia(FELV). The vet will tell you what they are, and to bring them back in 4 wks for their 2nd "round", and 4 wks later for their 3rd "round" w/rabies included. Whenever you have questions like this, the BEST thing to do is.....CALL your vet and ASK.......Hope this helps...Good luck

It is a good idea. This disease along with FIV can be passed from the mother. Was the kitten a stray? If so I would. Especially if you already have other cats. It is contagious and causes a low immunity to illnesses and even cancer.

Yes you should. It is highly contagious. If you don't have her tested I don’t think she can get all her vaccinations. If she needs medical attention and her shots are not up to date the vet may not take her in.

Yes they need it as they could have been born with leukemia and first round of shots. Just because they are house cats dose not mean they do not need shots.
