I want to have a red or green layer of cheesecake on top of the brownies (I found a recipe for these, minus the food coloring). But I'm wondering if coloring the cheesecake mixture before baking will have a negative impact on how the cheesecake turns out? I also don't want it to dye anyone's mouth red/green. If you think it's a bad idea, do you have any suggests for making cheesecake brownies Christmasy? (I think adding peppermint candies would be kind of gross). Thanks!

I agree with using red over green, green just seems like you wouldnt want to eat it. Maybe you can add red and green M&Ms to the top to make them holiday like, the chocolate would tase good with brownies

You kinda answered your own question, as that's exactly what food coloring is intended for, coloring food....say to turn a off white (typical cheesecake color) and turn it, say a tinge yellow if you're making a lemon cheesecake......so, add the food coloring a drop at a time and remix the cheesecake batter......remember, you can always add more, but with the coloring you can't take it out once it's in......Enjoy, and that sounds like a great holiday idea for the cheesecake brownies...

Yes you can color the cheesecake filling. It won't have a negative impact on how the cheescake turns out. It won't dye anyone's mouth red/green. A red velvet cake has an entire bottle of red food coloring and it doesn't turn people's mouths red. But I think the red will look better after baking than the green.

Adding booze will make it Christmasy-lol. Seriously, a little Bailey's is nice in the filling. Add a few drops of red or green food colouring, it won't affect the outcome and looks pretty.
Merry Christmas!

You can use any food coloring, just make sure it is food coloring...it wouldn't have any negavite impact.

After you make your cheesecake batter, add a few drops at a time until you get the color you like.

Happy Cooking.

yes you can, you might want to use the gel form of coloring so it won't alter the consistency of it.even if you have to use liquid...I dont think there will be enough of it to make a difference.
