FreeCreditReport.com requires you to sign up for their monitoring. And they can be a pain to cancel.

The only place to get a free credit report is AnnualCreditReport.com. This site is specifically set up to get your free report from each of the three credit bureaus. The report is free but you will have to pay for your score.

The US government allows you to check your credit report free of charge three times a year, one report from each agency. You don't have to pay anything at all, they don't even need a credit card number.
