Hi I'm an 18 year university student in Ireland who is of chinese descent and I'm wondering is it common that your parents give out about not getting scholarships or not beating your fellow classmates from secondary level in the academic area even though university is almost free here and I got my place in college by a comfortable margin. (515 points in the Leaving Cert exams out of 600 where the average is about 320-380 in the country)?

Some parents channel their desire to succeed into their children. They are probably just wanting you to do your best.

They may want to have success through yours, or they may think you can do better.

Don't worry about it too much. Just remember, they're your parents, they love you.

yes, i know what it like.
I've been going through this since PREschool, when they were saying "you have to be better than so and so at art, reading, maths" for example. Now its more like "you wont get any scholarships if you dont get all As". I try the hardest I can, and sometimes it turns out like a disappointnemt to them
