I'm at a loss as to what to give them for Christmas. They are going to be married in March.

I don't have any idea what to get my brother for Christmas. Nor do I know his fiancee well enough. They live across the country from me and I have not seen their new house. But there is a coffeepot on their wedding registry that I could get them for Christmas.

Is that too cheesy or is it a good idea?

It may not be super personal but it should be fine to do that. Usually after a wedding, a registry will still stay open for at least another year because people tend to buy them things off of it for other occassions that follow the wedding (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.). So yeah, go ahead and get them something off of it and make the card nice and personal. :)

I don't think it's lame to get people something they obviously want. It would be lame to get an unwanted gift. Go for it.

My husband and I got married in September, and re-used the wedding registry as a wish list for the following Christmas.

Not cheesy at all! They wrote the registry because those are gifts that they *want*....why search aimlessly for a gift you'd *hope* they'd like, when you have Santa's little list in front of you?

LOL, pick something they want. You can write on the card, "A little birdie told me you wanted this ;)"

Merry Christmas :)

That's exactly what I did for my brother, and I really wish they were registered every year! I went shopping the day after Thanksgiving, so I also got a vase they wanted for her bridal shower because it was on crazy sale.

Look at it this way, they're not going to get EVERYTHING off their registry, anyway. This way, you got something you know they want.

Dang it... My fiance and I got engaged this summer... I wish we were already registered so that people would buy us things we really want and need in the color/style/brand we ask for!!!! I think it's a stellar idea!
Just make sure that you go through whatever procedure the store has to get it taken off of the registry so they don't get another!

My husband and I were married the same year as his brother. We would purchase China and stemware for each other off of the registries. It was a wonderful gift. We normally wouldn't buy it ourselves and we did want the items.

It is an excellent idea. The registry isn't just for the shower or wedding gift. This way you'll know you're spending your money on something they really want.

No, not cheesy at all. Because gifts that are on the registry are things they either need, or things that they would never buy themselves. Go for it, it's not like they won't like it...they want it.

No silly, that's the whole idea of a registry. It's to give you a guideline of what they want or need. Good idea.

I got lots of stuff from my registry last year, and I was happy to get them, rather than nonsense I don't need or wouldn't want. Go for it!
