It sounds like you're a workaholic. Can't judge whether you're inefficient or not; that depends more on how much time it takes you to do a certain amount of work. If you work so many extra hours and still do about the same amount of work as your colleagues, yes then you might be inefficient and might do well to look into your methods. But from what you write I think you're working late hours but also get a lot more done. That's plenty efficient. If it's a good thing... well that depends on whether you're neglecting other things. Do you have a family you often don't see? Hobbies you would like more time for? If you're single and happy with your work, I don't think it's wrong, but some workaholics do neglect their families and that of course is not good.

Efficiency has to do with how much you get done compared to how much time you spend. Based on what you've described it doesn't sound like you are inefficient, but it sounds like your priorities may be a little out of whack. It's good to work and take care of yourself and your family, but it's just a job. I don't think that your clients expect you to respond quickly; in fact, they might not even be reading your responses until the next morning! If your clients do expect on-call service, then they'd better be paying you much more money for it. If you ask anyone, I don't think they'll tell you that they wish they had spent more time at work and less time with their family. Family really matters; work is lower on the list than them. I think it's wonderful that you want to give good service, but remember that you are getting paid to work and you don't need to work more than you are getting paid for. God bless.

Not necessarily. We are all different. For instance, I am NOT a morning person. I can concentrate better & feel more efficient later in the day, usually after 1 pm or so. Others are early birds. I think it just depends on the person in question. I do think that you are working too much, though. It's great that you are client-oriented, but if you don't take care of yourself, you will eventually burn out.

If you aren't getting enough rest, your brain doesn't function as well and you will not be a sufficient worker no matter how many hours in a day you work. It's important to get 7-8 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. Best Wishes!

I worked late hours because the responsibilities involved the well-being of mentally challenged elderly consumers and it could not be done in "regular" work hours. When you're dealing with human lives, you do what you have to do!

Some day your headstone will read "His clients never had to wait". Give yourself a break, you should be working to live not living to work! Spend some time with your family and try to learn to enjoy life a bit, it really is short.

It depends on what you do in your regular work hours that you are not getting the replies done as well.
