the cheapest way without any pain is going to a store like a gas station or a deli, and buying a calling card for
5 dollars or buy 2 for 10 dollars. they have like 25 to a half hour for each card. then u go home with them and dial the number on the card that relates to ur area code, and then u scratch the card for the pin number, u just have to follow directions, after dialing the pin the lady will ask for ur destination number and u dial it, then they'll connect u to whom u wanna talk to. once ur done with minutes the lady will let u know and u'll be fine w/o any phone bills or charges.. i think its the best way.
the cards u can find that r best are called
Oops
Hot Dog
NYC
Play Ball
or just ask the cashier which is a good calling card to u use for england!! thats all gud luck

Go to phonecards4sale.com and look for the card that's right for you.
Or use Skype and make calls through your computer. It's about 2 cents per minutes to most Western countries.
You can also make free computer-to-computer phone calls with a number of different services, including Skype and MSN. You have to download the software and set that up in advance, though.

Well Skype is pretty cheap. You just download it and then call people through your computer, so you'd need a mic/headset. Calls to other users are free, and I'm not sure how much it is to landline/cells but its cheaper. You buy "Skype Credit" and use that.
Phone cards can be cheaper depending which one you get. And make sure its valid, there are so many scams out there.

Not sure but my step dad make tons of international calls and he himself has vonage or something similar where he connects his home phone to his pc he pays about 25 bucks a month. It may depend on the country. But I would check that first. I know cell to cell is still pretty expensive even if you are in the same network. good luck

The cheapest way to call would be using your computer if you have a computer, a microphone and speakers.
If you have all that you can use a program such as yahoo messenger or skype, they have the lowest rates from my experience you put your credit card information to buy credit.
if you dont already have them download them to your computer.

vonage the voip phone service has unlimited calls to the uk.
You need for that broadband access to the internet.
You could also try website www.comfi.com. They have a bunch of good reloadable virtual cards with no access/usage fee.

http://www.MiniCalls.com One of the best services around and I've used lots and stuck with them. Great rates, excellent quality, and no fees whatsoever. They are also giving away free minutes when you sign up.
Highly recommended.
Beware of phone cards with very low rates. Along with the low rates comes very poor sound quality and hidden fees.
good luck!
