for cheap you could look at a casio exilim, you can pick one up for less than 200 dollars and they have a mode you discribe that will capture about 7 pictures per second and it will continue until the memory card is full or the battery dies... the picture quality isn't going to be as great as a dslr in this case your limited to a 1600 x 1200 picture (about a 2 megapixel size) but what your asking for on the cheap isn't going to be great quality.

Also not you'll have to use a high speed SD card to get those types of numbers, but again its a lot cheaper than a dslr

The feature you are looking for is called "burst" photography.

The camera will take a series of rapid, sequential shots with only one press of the shutter release. Many digital cameras will do this, including some, relatively inexpensive ones. The downside of the cheaper cameras is that it takes a while for the camera to process and save this "burst" of images, so it locks up the camera for several seconds before the user can take another shot.

I think you will find what you want to do and how much you want to pay, if you are talking about rapid fire still photos, mutually exclusive. Some inexpensive digitals have a feature which allows for a few seconds of video

Fuji finepix s5600

Depends on the designated shutter speed, you can take about 2-3 photo's per second, continuously! (Or untill your memory runs out)

Go here:

Plug in your price point and you'll get a list of cameras.

The ones that are reviewed will have a burst test.

Hope this helps.
