I have adhd but what causes it is anxiety and deppresion I have taken adderall and it helped i just left me feeling crappy for a few days when I got off it and when i was on it i was a little more stressed. My question is would it be better to get back on it and take antianxiety meds with it some or take some kind of antidepressants that may be worse to come off of?

My cousin was on adderall for a long time for narcolepsy and she wound up having a heart attack face down (no oxygen for awhile) with permanent brain damage....

This is a question for a psychiatrist. Do you have one? I hope you are seeing a therapist too. I'm pretty sure that the success of any drug is dramatically increased with on-going counseling. My personal opininion is the more milder anti-depressants would be better. You could be anxious b/c you're depressed. But again - I'm not a professional - you should see a good psychiatrist - and be picky - if you don't like the one you go to, find another one...I also think you're on to something with your statement about your dep/anx causing your adhd. I don't really believe in attention disorders. I think they're a sympton of other emotional issues...that's just been my experience with kids that had the diagnosis though. I've never really met a person where inattention was their only problem.

Look on the light side. Forget the meds.

It would be best to see a doctor, especially when your messing with highly addictive meds.

adhd is NOT caused by anxiety and depression. they are separate diagnoses. I would treat which ever problem seems worse to you. But I would not take both.
