Each time I try to buy a present for a female is the most difficult shopping experience in my life. I am sick and tired of buying candles, soaps baskets, flowers, sexy lingerie, toys fragrances and all that beauty stuff they put it on to feel better about them selfs. In my opinion present should always represent something meaningful, interpersonal well though out and here comes my problem; I don’t have difficulties getting something cool for my guy friends but when it comes to woman I tend to struggle in agony. True my relational background none of my girlfriends had real interests or hobbies. Their world tend to turn around their beauty, relationship, chatting with friend, clubbing and hmm…, that’s it for what I can think of right now. I know that by now many female readers are about to choke me, but that’s how most man feel when it comes to buying you a gift. I am not trying to generalize or offend anybody, there are many beautiful qualities in woman but when it comes to buying you

I'll take a stab at this question since my husband has always been a very good gift-giver, ever since we started dating. He always got me gifts based on things that he knew I was interested in, even if I hadn't hinted about specific presents.

Here are some examples from the past 5 years:

1. A few months after we started dating, I mentioned that I was planning to get a new car that year. For my birthday, he got me a scale model of that car, in my favorite color.

2. When we got engaged and were looking at reception venues, I found one that offered a chocolate fountain. We both love chocolate and I was very excited about getting the fountain. However, the fountain rental turned out to be very expensive, and we went with a different venue anyway. For Christmas that year, he bought me a chocolate fountain to use for entertaining at home. (I also ended up using it at my bridal shower.)

3. I bought my wedding jewelry from Swarovski, and mentioned to my husband how much I liked it. For Valentine's day he bought me a small Swarovski crystal lightcatcher.

I'm not writing this to brag about how great my husband is, but just to show that it pays to listen. I hadn't asked for any of those presents, but he knew I'd like them because he knew I was interested in those things. So you need to find out what else your girlfriends are interested in. And if they truly have no interests outside beauty or clubbing, then maybe you should seriously consider if they are someone you want to have a relationship with.

You could also just ask what they want. That's what I do with my parents and siblings for Christmas - we exchange lists of suggested presents that we want.

I'd rather a thoughtful gift. My last bf always bought me jewlry, and to be honest, I got sick of it. The guy I'm with now is way better at things like that. He remembers what i say about certain things. If I'm sad, he'll buy me Oreos and watch Smallville with me. The last guy would jsut stay away until I was feeling better. See, gifts need to be personal. Beauty supplies can also be an insult....

if the women you are dating are all about their physical appearances, then a gift card to their favorite spa, salon, mani/pedi place or make up counter would be appreciated.

But I'm sorry, even self-absorbed club chix over 18 have interests and hobbies. You just aren't getting to know them on a deeper level. Start asking more questions.

We women can be difficult to choose gifts for but if you truly know a woman it wouldn't be hard to pick out something she'll like. Make it something well thought-out and persoanl and it will be even more special.

We don't have an easy time choosing gifts for men either. It goes both ways.

I guess you're sick and tired of having sex with women too, then. Women do these things for men, to make themselves attractive for you. If you don't appreciate it, then give her a dozen rubbers and call it a day. Something you can both use.
