We still have troops in Bosnia and Kosovo who were sent there by the previous administration to halt civil wars on those pieces of real estate. So, all things being fair, we ought to withdraw those troops as well. Those troops in Bosnia were supposed to be there for a period not to exceed one year. I listened to the President as he pledged that to the Congress and the American people during his remarks to a Joint Session of the Congress. It's over ten years and they are still there.

It wasn't a civil war when we went there, and it isn't now. Discordant and fractured groups--representing a very small percentage of the population, plus foreigners who have filtered in for the carnage--taking potshots at each other and at us is not a "civil war". Most of the people in Iraq have nothing to do with it, nor want to. In fact, most of them want us to stay and help them rebuild the country, unlike what you hear on TV back home. A few dissidents, thugs, and killers do not represent the majority in any society, especially a democracy... which is what Iraq is now. And yes... I support the troops and what they are doing, because I was one until recently, and because I've BEEN there.

Why do you think Iraq is a Civil War? We are engaged against Syrians, Iranians, Saudis, etc. Not just Iraqis. This is the battleground for the war on terrorism right now. There and Afghanistan.
Also, I don't have a say on where the leadership, civilian and military send our troops. I had no say when I served for 21 years. It is their choice to serve, and God bless them all for their service.
Yes there is infighting between certain groups, but that has gone on for centuries.

Of course I do and don't try and twist things to make it look like unless everyone believes like you we don't really support them!!!!!!!!
Look, the Sunni's and the Shiites can kick the crap out of each other 'till doomsday for all I care. The problem is that the insurgents keep firing at us! You honestly think the troops won't shoot back?!?
Besides, it has to do alot with alliances. In GW1 we stopped because we had met all OUR objectives. We figured that a civil war in Iraq was thier fight and we should stay out of it. You remember what happened to the resistance? The got thier a**es handed to them. Back to pre-war Saddam ruling with an Iron fist!
This time we're saying to the tribal leaders and warlords that help us out that we are your friends. We won't leave you this time and even though we don't agree with all you're doing, and might try and steer you in a different direction, ultimately it's your barbeque. We'll support you because of all you've done for us.
Seriously, from what I see in your question is nothing but anti-war regurgitation of ideas. Do you think for yourself or scan the web for quotes and quips every morning to get you through the day.
Put it this way. If your buddy was getting his a** kicked and his opponent's friend stepped in to help pummel your bro would you help him out, or would you stand back because you "don't want to get blood on your shirt"? If you hold true to your question I would have to pick you as a "let him get his butt kicked, I ain't gonna do anything" type.
Same thing. Our buddies are in a fight, thier opponents buddies are tying to step in and make it 2-on-1. Of course we're gonna help out! Anyone who doesn't is a p****!!!!

How do you figure this is a civil war? Especially when we were the one's who came in here and started this?!?! I honestly do beleive that this was necessary, but it is NO civil war.
Graduate Student: How is Bush to blame for all of what you say? In fact, the military has gotten better at equiping us since he has been in office. You should have seen it under Clinton!! I do agree some of his decisions haven't been the best, but before you go making him your scape goat, do your research! The way we train our troops?? Like when he took office, we stopped training them any differently? Come on!! In fact, from what I have been through, the training has gotten alot better!!

If the French hadn't helped us during the Revolutionary War, we might not have succeeded in our struggle for independence.
So the answer is that good people will always try to help other good people, if possible. We liberated the Iraqi people from an evil dictator, and now we have to help them clean up the mess.
This is a good thing, and our troops are the bravest men and women in the world. God bless them.
And God bless America!

So, you're saying President Clinton was actively anti-military when he ordered the US military to intervene in a civil war in the Balkans?

I support the troops regardless of why or where our country sends them. I write to them on supportthetroops.com and donate to organizations that support them as well. May they all come home winners soon

Absolutely. The ONLY way I support the troops is bringing them HOME and getting them OUT of harm's way. All they are doing is fighting a manufactured war to enrich W's cronies, while doing the U.S. govt.'s dirty work for them and being cannon fodder in the process.
