and you met someone you liked, but it turns out you have the same last name even though you aren't related, would you consider dating them? or would it be just too weird?

this is just hypothetical. I'm married. My maiden name is similar to my married name, but not the same....I just wondered what people would think in that situation!

I think it would be too weird. I'd have to do some major research to make sure we weren't some distant relatives, but even then I don't think I could date them.

I know someone that married another person with the same last name, also unrelated. It's a little strange but as long as there is no blood relation, who cares. It's just a name.

Would it make a difference if you had a "common" last name? Couldn't you still potentially be related?

You might want to make sure the person isn't a first cousin. Otherwise go for it.

I'd try to figure out if we had any relatives in common. When I was in middle school one of the teachers said two of her students (who were dating each other) went to a family reunion and ran into each other at the same reunion!

I think it would be cool - at least if you got married, you would not have the same last name

I once dated someone with the same surname but different spelling, it was weird at first, but we got over it.

I would be okay with it - just have fun and get to know >HIM< who cares about the same last name deal!

Hmmmm, I think that would be too weird for me, even though were not related it would be in the back of my mind.

Yea go for it. But you might want to find out about his family. See if your related or not.

I've never based my love on a person's name. Too shallow.
