It is my understanding that the systems thinking approach is considering the big picture or the whole problem rather than breaking it down in smaller parts and trying to solve it a piece at a time. This approach should work well in considering how to farm while taking care of the ecologically at the same time. This is actually what subsistence farming is all about.

I don't know what you mean by system thinking, but no matter what type of farming system you have, if you don't think things through, you'e going to be broke in a hurry.
