bill o'reilly is just about the only one i know of who reports the good things happening. geraldo every now and then but most news stations are liberal so they want to only show the bad things about the war. as for bringing them home alot of the troops including friends of mine say they hope a demacrat does not become president because they want to finish what they started. so after the 08' election you will have a better idea on when our troops are coming home.

The reason it's quiet is that we are actually making strides there. Most of the answerers have already hit the nail on the head. There's no dirty laundry. The unpopular war isn't failing somewhere, and we're meeting objectives, kicking a** and taking names! You know, actually winning. Not newsworthy material.
I said it before, the media HAS to look out for the popular interests. If not most anti-war types will change the channel until they find something that supports thier beliefs. Bad ratings. This is why several times in the past the media has been caught in a lie. Media Mantra up until recently was "If there's no bad news, make it up"! 'Cept the lies that they got caught telling were devistating to them and this time they'd rather stay out of it completely than get caught again.
As said before we'll get out when the job is done.

Thats because Fox and CNN hate reporting possitive stories from Iraq.
When was the last time you heard ANY news from Iraq that wasnt about people dying?
Yet there are countless humanitarian services being conducted on a daily basis in Iraq.
I bet the News hasent said anything about Operation Backpack ( http://www.spiritofamerica.net/cgi-bin/soa/project.pl?rm=view_project&request_id=140 ) during this lull in violence. Its a little too Disney for them, they like to stay more like HBO.

The reason you don't hear anything is because dirty laundry sells. There hasn't been any dirty laundry over here lately, so it hasn't been "newsworthy". Come on, do you really think CNN would put something good happening over here on?!?! That doesn't sell advertising time!!

There is little news because there is little BAD news coming out recently. Once there is some more bad news, you will no doubt hear all about it.
