It's a little early, but what the hell...

*drink*

EDIT: Wait, is an atheist asking a Christian for unproducible evidence a drinking question? I thought it was...

First of all, Lack of proof isn't a weakness. On the contrary, claiming infallibility for one's conclusion that God does not exist is a sign of hubris. Nothing in the real world has ever been rigorously proved, or ever will be. Proof, in the mathematical sense, is possible only if you have the luxury of defining the universe you're operating in. In the real world, we must deal with levels of certainty based on observed evidence. The more and better evidence we have for something, the more certainty we assign to it; when there is enough evidence, we label the something a fact, even though it still isn't 100% certain.

If enough people have personally experienced a relationship with someone called 'President Bush', doesn't that constitute real evidence for his existence? So if enough people have personally experienced a relationship with someone called 'God', that should constitute real evidence for His existence, too. If a Book includes prophecies which come to pass, and did so in front of witnesses who had nothing to do with the one who made the prophecy, that also constitutes real evidence for His existence. If the universe itself allows for books to successfully predict the future using 'Bible Code' type encoding and decoding techniques, this indicates a universe which includes intentionally planted information, and so also constitutes real evidence for His existence. If the universe itself had a beginning, it NEEDS a Prime Mover, whether that consists of colliding branes (which came from where?) or the powerful Word of an Eternal Being. This in itself constitutes real evidence that we MUST eventually acknowledge, that God does indeed exist. And no amount of protest can change these facts.

This question or some form of it has been asked more times than we can count, and yet it is unanswerable, due to the fact that evidence and faith contradict each other. Religious and spiritual beliefs require faith in order to be religious or spiritual in nature.

The definition of faith is as follows:
1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
4. often Faith: The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.

Doctrines and books of all religions teach their followers that they must put their trust and faith in God. Note #2 of the definition. If evidence were to be introduced, faith would be wiped out, hence there would be no religion. This is just logical fact, whether people who believe in God are right or wrong.

Anyone from either side of the fence who actually attempts to answer this question is in error.

The difficulty with a question like this, and so many similar ones, is that we do not agree on words like 'evidence' and 'proof'. In one sense God exists - he exists in the minds and thoughts of millions of people who are Christians. Call him something slightly different like Yahweh or Allah, and he exists in more people. Does anyone want me to prove that?
But the questioner seems to want more. There is a request for some other evidence. The general method for a scientist to proceed in this case is to make some form of prediction and then test it. If there was a God ... would happen. Does it? Yes, there is a God or no, there isn't a God.
The bible attempts to do it but is treated by suspicion by those who don't like it. For instance, did Jesus predict his death? Some would say he did, some would say he did but because he knew he was going to provoke the authorities so it was self fulfilling. Others will say he didn't. It was all written down afterwards. So how does this help?

Suppose someone said something like the following

"As a disciple of Christ I prophesy that God is angry with the US administration because of the killings in Iraq and their refusal to do anything about Global Warming and as a result God will harden the hearts of the American people so that the next President will be a Democrat."

Why would you not believe in God when a Democrat is elected to the White House?

Evidence can be found in the fact that everything we've discovered in science has a very organized, non-random design. Evidence can be found in a baby's gaze to it's mother. Evidence is in the flowers, ocean, animals, friendships, and our ability to love. Evidence is in feeling God's when I pray. Evidence is in the miracles of modern medicine and good deeds that people do out of altruism.

If that's not enough evidence for you, then I do feel badly for you.

Check out all of the theories of quantum physics: cold energy, dark light, multidemensionality, and many others. These are all things that they can not measure, or observe. But they believe in them all the same, because they have to exist in order for their theories to work. They (scientists) are in fact describing and proving the existence of God. Most non believers insist that they be provided scientific evidence, well here you have it. If you are willing to recognize it.
God bless

There is a great deal of evidence, but God tells us that it is hidden from those who do not believe.

2 Cor 4:4 "...in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

Same evidence you have to support your hypothesis of the galactic firecracker that magically created a single solar system within a universe that contains a single planet capable of sustaining life...and sometime during a 500 trillion year period on that one planet a single micro organism turned into a tree climbing amphibian that suddenly grew fur and became a mammal which evolved into an ape and gave birth to you...

There is the bible but it is all about faith. People's problem with God is that there is no way of telling when he began or where he came from. Scientists and philosiphers all believe there had to be a start to something somewhere. God has not revealed that about himself so it is hard for people to believe. Therefore again we are back to faith.

Its not a hypothesis. The idea that all creation sprung up out of nothing is a 'hypothesis'...and one that scientists cannot prove.

God is real.
