Because it was written by men for men. Mostly.
I agree. Women are superior to men in more of the ways that matter.

There are many heroines who saved the Israelites in the Old Testament. Men and women are equal in God's eyes, just God made the woman from the man. This is whilst on Earth. In Heaven we are more equal. No-one is more important. People who say that The Bible says men are more important than women are not quite looking at the other side. Some common arguements:
1. Men become great followers of God in the Old Testament.
As I said above, there are women heroes too.
2. God punished mankind by increasing childbirth for Eve, no such punishment on Adam.
Work became harder for men.
3. Men should be head of the family.
There is nothing wrong with this. The man in those days was usually the one who worked for wages to keep the family going. It does not mean any should be treated as betters.
4. Women are from the man, and the man is from God.
The Creation story says God made Adam, but when he was lonely, God sent the women Eve out of him to keep him company, and they were blessed.
It's like when people look at the 'Father and Mother' commandment and say that this means God hates teenagers and children. It's all not true.

All societies, even our own, had a time when men were treated Superior, and the bible was written to be accurate. However, if you care to read close enough you will find Jesus Christ treats women with respect. He protected an adulterer from being stoned and comforted a Samaritan women by the well.

The Holy Bible doesn't. It protects the woman. It instructs husbands how to treat their wives and children. It instructs the wives how to treat their husbands. It lays the foundation of marriage, in which both partners are equal and united in holy matrimony. The Bible celebrates women in history such as Ruth, Mary, the women at the well, and many more. Basic commandments such as adultery and covetness are to protect both men and women in the area of love. You want to know a book that celebrates marriage, love and women? Read Song of Solomon. Solomon praises God and writes about the awesomeness of his wife. You remember the woman washing Jesus's feet with her hair. Wow, Jesus said some good words about her.

well here is the thought.........
Men can not be equal to women
Women can not be equal to men....
they are different from each other..dont u get it???
well about the second part of ur question i may agree a little with u
[1 Corin. 14:34]
The woman should keep silence in the churches, for they are not permitted to
speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. If there is any thing
they desire to know let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful
for a woman to speak in church.
Zech. 5:7]
The leaden cover was lifted, there was a woman sitting, and he (the angel)
said: this is wickedness.
1 Corin. 11:7]
For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God,
but woman is the glory of man, for man was not made for woman, but woman from
man, neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
[1 Corin. 11:5]
But any woman who prays and prophecies with her head unveiled dishonours
her head - it is the same as if her head were shaven, for if a woman will
not veil herself then she should cut off her hair. But if it is
disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her wear a veil.
JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES; is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her
head uncovered?
(It seems that Christians are unaware of the obligation
of the veil in the Bible, which made me put their verses in this book,
and for those who attack the veil in Islam should notice these verses of
their own Bible, and notice also this verse "Judge not, that you be not
judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the
measure you give will be the measure you get.)

When bibles were written, men dominated everything and saw women as inferior beings. So obviously bibles are out of date in that sense.
How do you see women to be superior might i ask? In every aspect??

What are you talking about!?
Women in every culture and land into which the bible is introduced have their lives improved.
The bible teaches that a woman was given the honor of giving birth to the Savior.
The bible teaches husbands that they are to love their wives as Christ loves the church and "gave Himself up for her". We are to give our lives for our wives.
Jesus never condemned any woman. Instead, He forgave them, healed them, ministered to them, included them in ministry work.
Just a few of the hundreds of examples in the bible of how you are wrong.
I suggest you learn what the bible says for yourself and stop listening to the ridiculous things others are telling you.

Or the tribal cultures of the east, or the Pacific rim, or Russia, or Africa, or well insert the name of any time and place here __________ .
it is because YOUR society and mine are patrilineal.

It doesn't.
And women are not "superior" to men, any more than men are superior to women. There are strengths that are more commonly found in women than in men, and there are strengths that are more commonly found in men than in women. It takes both to make a functioning - well, a functioning anything, really. Home, university, society, world - take your choice. Prejudice in favor of women is still sexism, friend.

That's easy. Men wrote it. Even giving Christians the benefit of the doubt that it is the word of their God, their God did not physically write it down. Men did.
