Sadly there are quite a few who struggle under the deluded impression that every word is true.
It never ceases to amaze me that people can believe in the bible stories as the literal truth; they are so very obviously a collection of stories written by men who were trying to recount and make sense of very ordinary things that at the time were not understood.
No-one with even the flimsiest knowledge of genetics, for example, would write a story of the origin of man based around just one breeding pair.

Have you actually read the bible? You might be surprised to find there is alot in it that proves without a shadow of a doubt that it was inspired by a greater being than just humans.
For example, the bible has made hundreds of prophecies, some in great detail, some even naming names hundreds of years before the fulfillment - all of them proved true by fulfillment (interestingly, it is so dependable that archaeologists/historians who find discrepancies with other source material and the bible, tend to go to the bible as the more reliable source).
Also, whenever the bible touches on science matters, it is always accurate, even though it went against the common beliefs of the day.
The bible is the world's no.1 bestseller, and has touched millions, if not billions, of people's lives - no other book comes close to doing this - so surely it must have something to it...
And there are many, many more reasons to know that the bible is from God - why not read for yourself...

There are factual claims that are verifiable - Herod was the king of Judea, Palestine, and Galilee roughly when Jesus was born, for example. So what we need to do is filter out what is fact from what is faith.
To do that we need to remember that the Bible is a collection of books written over athousand or more years in difefrent languages and dialects by different people from different contexts to different audiences and in different genres. If i tried to read it like I would yesterday's newspaper I'd think it was full of it as well.
Margaret Nutting Ralph's And God Said What? is a great place to start picking through the complications. Margaret Borg's Reading the Bibla Again For the First Time is excellent as well.

I really believe it, where else do you get our beginning and future. I bet you have never even read it all through so how do you know what it says. If you want to believe all this happened by chance, not created its up to you. But when I see how well made this earth is I know why I believe. If I told you someone just threw a load of bricks in the air and Hey Presto your house was built you would think me an idiot, yet you cannot see how much more amazing this earth and the universe is. Even the Bibles health laws were before their time.

The Bible is based upon the TORAH (Genesis, Exodus, etc...) - With of course the exception of the New Testament.
Therefore every Jew has to believe in the Hebrew books of the Bible, and every Christian has to believe in the whole Bible - They are all LAMBS to the Slaughter!
It's just shame that the GOD of Jews, Christians, Muslims , etc... is MONEY (Including Oil, Gold, Diamonds, and other shiny stuff).

Hi there.
Its sad the hear that you feel that way , especially the comment about the Bible making Eve look bad.
That is actually not true.
Yes , Eve made a gross error of judgment , but it was her husband - Adam , that made a bad decision and deliberately went against the true God.
The Bible accounts often tell of women that have acted faithful , loyal and God fearing.
These are true and GOOD women.
In fact , it was a woman that the resurrected Jesus Christ revealed himself too, and told to deliver this great news to the other disciples..- a great priviledge.
John 20:16-18 ". . .Jesus said to her: "Mary!" Upon turning around, she said to him, in Hebrew: "Rab·bo´ni!" (which means "Teacher!") Jesus said to her: "Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.'" Mary Mag´da·lene came and brought the news to the disciples: "I have seen the Lord!" and that he said these things to her."
Women are respected in true Christian teachings and this is reflected in the pages of the Bible..

I have a good reason for believing in it because it is all about God's relationship with us and I believe in God because I have a personal relationship with him and he works in my life. The bible starts off talking about God before everything happened and then his historical relationship with us....then God came to live among us as Jesus and then he set the plan of salvation in motion and the bible ends with talking about the future......The bible is also historically accurate and so I just can't take part of it as being true I have to take all of it as being true.

My friend I guess your not alone but for you as well as others who put so much emphsis on dyning it's inspired writtings from God's throne you are really helping to promote it. How ? Everytime "you" ask this question someone is going to be a wittnes for God and his Christ on earth. Then that causes someone to read someone else reply and dig for proof. Gold was not found just lying around in the earth but when someone digged into it they discovered gold. Like wise it goes for diamonds too and other rich minerals so precious to the wealth of mankind. Now you just keep on asking, so we who feel the love Jesus displayed in his lfe and finally on the cross for the salvation and better ment of this planet motivate us to keep digging for the hidden truth of God's unchanging Word. Thanks may you be blessed if you do the same...

Yes, I do.
I read it for myself, and sought out what it had to say.
I did not listen to the naysayers, nor those that believed.
I listened to what it had to say.
If I got stuck, I asked someone that had already read it to see what they had learned. What I was shown made sense.
What the Bible is, is a grouping of ancient documents translated into our modern (Old English-King James Version) languages that are actually the words of God. It is the inspired words from God written down by those people God did choose to pick up the pen.

I do, and I have spent quite a few hours trying to figure a way to throw it all out. If you can ask a civil question, I can try to answer it. (I don't know is a common answer) Have you watched Kent Hovind? He has a PHd in science, and he finds scripture more accurate that what is taught in school. (He taught school for many years)
