This has been asked before, however, I'm not convinced by this 'gap theory' that says God's days equal a 100 million years.
And the MAIN reason Jesus Christ came down from heaven was to 'amend' original sin caused by Adam and Eve?
It seems in order to believe that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer I have to believe in original sin. In order to believe in original sin I have to believe in Adam, Eve, the serpent, the Garden of Eden AND creationism.
I want to be a Christian and join a church and meet new people and make new friends. Sing songs and PRAISE THE LORD!!
But I can’t, having read everything from Darwin to Dawkins. And as much as I stretch the bible to encompass the scientific discoveries being made, I can’t turn off this ‘logical’ side of my reasoning from constantly second guessing this religion.

I've read CS Lewis' Mere Christianity, and the Screwtape Letters. It didn't really help, he wrote them back in the 50's, seems a little outdated. The world is a fast moving place.

We didn't come from apes. Modern day primates and humans have a common ancestor. I dont' know why people can't get this correct.

Of course not! I am a Christian who believes in Theistic Evolution.
Most Christians don't take the Bible, especially the Old Testament, 100% literally nowadays. They were stories written for people who would have NEVER understood concepts such as evolution.
I do believe that man is inherently sinful, however, but that doesn't mean it was caused by a man and woman eating an apple.
However, a minority of Christians are actually doing the exact opposite, and taking the bible SO literally that it is mind boggling. This guy Kent Hovind actually tells people that humans and dinosaurs lived together, which is preposterous.

Science and religion can coexist. Religion without science is blind and science without religion is Lame....I forget who said that but it was a fun quote. Science tries to show how things work and the Religion is more about the why. Take a look at the order in which genesis states the universe and life was made....it doesn't sound too dissimilar to evolutionary theory (but of course the creation of man was special and so the idea that we came from apes isn't something that can be accepted if one is going to be a Christian) and also consider about the immense power it would take to sling everything into motion and through the power of a word everything came into being. I would think that it might throw off the calculations a little bit. I'm not one to say either way but to me I don't have to because Christianity is all about my relationship with Jesus and I know I will never fully understand Gods grand design until I get to meet Him. I just accept that God created the heavens and the earth and that it was good. And if evolution wants to say that life first started in the oceans then I have no problems with that because that is what the bible says too. When the bible says that God created the animals...it also didn't say how so why not have them evolve over time. Didn't darwin even say himself before he died that there must be God to put all this stuff in motion. I think the arguements over evolution vs creationism is just a tool for the devil to confuse us over what is truely important.
Mere christianity is a good book too but to add to that I would recommend taking an ALPHA course. it was designed by Nicky Gumbel from england and is an introduction to the Christian faith. You go have a free meal and watch a video presentation and break into small group discussions where no question is too dumb or too hostile......it is a 10 week course I believe and runs one night a week. I have had much benefit from taking the course even though I have been a Christian all my life.

Yes buddy. You do have to believe in the creation in order to be considered a true Christian. If you don't believe that God is the alpha and the omega, then why waste your time singing praises unto God. You have to believe His word in every way. No matter what Darwin or Hawkins says. What I am trying to say is all your work would be in vain, if you are double-minded. You have to stay firm in your integrity and don't stray away with wordly candor. You can't mix Godly things with wordly things. Trust the Bible. God created Adam and Eve. They sinned. You probably have trouble understanding the fact that Eve trusted a serpent, but doesn't the devil always disguise himself. The serpent (a devil) was his true self, but the devil uses man as a good deceiver. My advice, would be to set aside Darwin and Hawkins for a while, until you get your faith straight. Read Revelations 1:8 and James 1:5-8

You don't have to believe in "scientific Creationism" or "Intelligent Design". There are quite a few of us Christians who accept evolution as a fact, who believe in the Big Bang and modern cosmology.
If you are Christian, you are sort of stuck with the idea of God as Creator. This does not conflict with evolution, no matter how many arguments Mr. Gish has to the contrary.
And you're pretty much stuck with the concept of original sin. If you're not a sinner, then why would you need a Savior?
Let me suggest you go find a copy of C.S. Lewis' book "Mere Christianity". It'll give you a pretty good handle on what you're accepting when you accept Christ. There really isn't a whole lot of baggage there.

You have to quit your reliance on man's wisdom which is foolishness with God. Rely on the truth of the Bible. you are looking at things from a strictly humanistic viewpoint which says that miracles are impossible. You see my dear friend , if you decide that you are only going to believe certain parts of the Bible then you are being hypocritical. For instance You accept that Jesus did miracles because you want to be a Christian but reject the miracle of creation because you want to be an evolutionist. Hypocrisy. You either accept it all or reject it all. There is no grey area with God. Its all or nothing ,heaven or hell, lost or saved. you say you have read everything from Darwin to Dawkins but have you read the entire Bible cover to cover? If you seriously study science with out the rose colored glasses of Darwinism you will see that it all really points to creation by intelligent design. If we see an ancient cave drawing of an animal we say Aha intelligent design. Why can we not then say the same thing when we see a single cell of DNA which has more written data on it than a 30 volume set of Encyclopedia Britannica?
No because we have been brainwashed by Dawkins and Darwin we say Aha mindless accidental random luck. You do not have to check your brain at the door to believe the Bible.you simply need to take off the rose colored blinders.

Your question truly breaks my heart. To me, it is so sad that people try to make logic with theories like Darwin. Let's take a look at reality.....conception and child birth..... skin healing after a cut........emotions.......no matter what nationality you are, no matter what century you were born in........no matter what......these things are constant and mind blowing. Only a true living God could have masterminded such a plan. I am thrilled to see that you believe in Jesus Christ and that you want to be a Christian.....that's a start. Search your heart and pray for guidance......He will hear your prayers and answer your questions . I'll be praying for you as well.

Speciation is the evolutionary technique by making use of which new organic and organic species upward thrust up. The biologist Orator F. cook dinner seems to have been the 1st to coin the term 'speciation' for the splitting of lineages or "cladogenesis," as adversarial to "anagenesis" or "phyletic evolution" happening interior of lineages.[a million][2] no rely if genetic pick the flow is a minor or important contributor to speciation is the priority rely of plenty ongoing talk. There are 4 geographic modes of speciation in nature, based on the quantity to which speciating populations are remoted from one yet another: allopatric, peripatric, parapatric, and sympatric. Speciation is often precipitated artificially, with the aid of animal husbandry, agriculture, or laboratory experiments. All styles of organic speciation have taken place over the process evolution; whether it nonetheless continues to be a concern of discussion as to the relative value of each and every mechanism in using biodiversity.[4] One occasion of organic speciation is the variety of the three-spined stickleback, a marine fish that, after the final ice age, has undergone speciation into new freshwater colonies in remoted lakes and streams. Over an predicted 10,000 generations, the sticklebacks show structural transformations that are extra effective than those considered between diverse genera of fish consisting of variations in fins, changes interior the variety or length of their bony plates, variable jaw shape, and coloration distinction.

First you need to recognize that Jesus Christ is your Lord and savior and then continue on from there and ask the Holy spirit to make whatever answers you are searching for real to you. You will not find the answers you want on this site. God loves you more than anyone on this planet ever has or ever will and if you seek him first above everything else then he will make real to you everything you need to know,

I believe in Darwinism, and I believe in the general principles of the church and Christ's teachings. I believe that Harry Potter is a great thing for children to enjoy! I believe that donuts are only good fresh and warm and coffee should never cost more than lunch! God gave me a brain for a reason, and I plan on using it, not allowing other people to dictate my beliefs. Think about it all on your own and I'll bet you come up with your own list. Even if you think it contradicts itself, they will be what YOU believe. And that's all that matters.

Congratulations...you answered your own question...*applause*...
Your logical mind hasn't yet gotten past the text of Darwin to Dawkins to see the links within the text of the Bible...
Think about this...Adam and Eve...first humans created by God...they bore Cain and Abel...Cain killed Abel...he was sent by God into the wilderness but he begged God to protect him from "others who would slay him"...who was he afraid of and where did his wife come from???
Satan has similar powers to God but he cannot create life from nothing...he can only manipulate what already exists...that is stated in the Bible...think about the possibilities...
Evolutionary science says humans evolved from apes...but there is a huge jump in genetics from ape to homo sapiens that cannot be explained...yet there is evidence that some event took early ape like hominids to homo sapiens...could it be Cain's children...take a look at where the land of Nod and later Canaan are supposed to be on modern maps then look at where evolutionary science says homo erectus is thought to have originated...
If I were to proceed with this line...some would call me racist...
