I am getting three stars, not sure if i want color yet or not. But they will be in a random design where my bra strap would be and a good size. I got one done on my hip bone already and it barely hurt at all. Anyone have one on the rib cage and if so, tell me if you think i can take it lol and tell me how it felt to you thank you :] Whitley <3

My third tattoo is on my rib cage. It only took 50 minutes (and later had to do a 30 minute touch up because I got really sick when it was healing) and seriously...it was 50 of the most painful minutes in my life. Mainly because I could just feel the needle so close to where my ribs were.

They say that the ribs and the foot are the two most painful spots to get a tattoo. Well, I have tattoos on both. In fact, my tattoo on my foot is way bigger and took a lot longer and it was WAY less painful.

And the healing? Oh God. I felt like I was punched in the ribs for a good two weeks. Seriously, the ribs hurt.

You might be different because everyone deals with pain differently and has a different level of pain tolerance. But I generally have high pain tolerance (my others barely hurt me) and this one killed me.

Don't have one there yet, but from what I've heard that is one of the most painful areas to get a tattoo. Also, just keep in mind that the final tattoo may look different than what you want/expect because while you're getting it done that area is stretched out (pretty much the only area that stretches out the most).

One word Whitley...OUCH....Yes that area is extremely sensitive!Naturally it has alot to do with your pain endurance, but remember...if it's right where your bra strap will be you won't be able to wear a bra for awhile due to the fact that it (your bra strap) will constantly be rubbing against it and might rub the scab off which in turn will take alot of the ink out!Although wearing no bra would probably be a real turn on!LOL

I have heard that the ribcage, stomach, and chest are the most painful spots for tattoos...and I know from experience that the chest is for sure!! I don't have my rib cage, but my boyfriend has it and it was the only one that hurt him....which means a lot because my Bf has had his entire neck, head, chest, stomache and back done....

Yeah, I'm pretty well covered, and the ribcage and under the armpits is serious death row. It's pretty maddening, but tolerable. Get those big tattoos in those areas in several sittings, if at all possible. It's a lot more comortable that way, plus your tattooist will do a much better job... better for everyone. That's my advice. Thanks!

it depends on your personal threshold for pain but being you have one already on your hip bone (another area where the skin is thin, little fatty tissue to insulate you and close to the bone) you should be just fine. plus-what's a little temporary discomfort when compared with lifetime artwork?!... see how you feel once the outline work is completed, you may want to do a second session for the color once the outlines have healed to save yourself a little hurt.

and yes it hurt like the dickens!!!!!!! LOL
i have at least 9 other tattoo sets but this one hurt the worst compaired to my lower back one. I got it in 2 sittings. first day they did 4 flowers and 3 stars. Next day i got five more flowers and touch up on the stars.
I can truthfully say i dont know weither my pain tolerance has gone down since ive gotten older but YES IT HURT!!!!!!!!!

Okay, people, it doesn't matter how thin/thick the skin is or how much fat is where or whatever- it is all about NERVE endings. Wherever there are a lot of nerve endings, there will be a lot of pain. Ribcages do have quite a few nerve endings, so hopefully your pain tolerance is built up.

does the pain really matter?
if you want it bad enough you should go through it because itd be worth it, dont base your tattoo ideas with fear because then you might end up with something you didnt want...
yes it will probably hurt more than the other though...
im actually thinking about getting one there also...so you will have to let me know ;)

It does hurt. It's not an easy place to get tattooed.
