Doctor is correct. I have battling it for 20 years. What works for one person doesn't work for another. It is a trial and error procedure. What ever the doctor prescribed for me would start to work for a month or so and then stop working. He would change to another with the same results.
Here is what I found worked best for me. On my scalp I used a "dry scalp" formula shampoo. Have to use it all the time, can't change to another.
For elbows and knees I found Breck makes a "For Baby" Lavender Creamy Baby Oil. I use it two to three times a day and it has softened and shrunk the area better than any prescribed medication. Apply it after each shower or bath to hold in the moisture. I got this oil at the dollar store, funny how the cheapest method worked the best.
Again ... it worked for me but might not work for you. Isn't expensive and might be worth a try.

I just looked it up on line and they said is is treatable and curable. It may depend on how extent you have it. Check the sites out for yourself.
Try not to be depressed about it. Depression may make things worse. Get more than one opinion. Check for yourself. I hope you can find what you need. There are more things available now than have ever been before.
Merry Christmas!

Yes, it is incurable. It can be controlled by different methods (such as UV light/tanning, topical cremes, ect.) but never is "gone". The efficacy of treatment depends on how severe you condition is. If it is really really bad, many times treatment can reduce the psoreasis, but still can be present. Treatment for people with more minor psoreasis can have just occasional outbreaks.
