The Geneva Convention clearly protects uniformed combatants of a country that has signed it. As a US citizen and not a uniformed combatant, I am not protected by the Geneva convention; and yet people try to extend this protection to terrorists.

Because they've been so brain-washed by the "be nice" people that they can no longer see how it's begun to hurt us more than anything else. And it's the intelligent people who suffer the most for it.

The US has seized a whole lot of people that are not uniformed combatants. The Americans have SAID they were combatants but haven't provided any proof. They just handed out lots of $100 bills to those who would provide information. The tribesmen that were so poor and desperate gave up their own family members for money. The whole Guantanamo Bay fiasco is suspect. There may be some genuine terrorists there, but we'll never know because there is little proof - other than "he said she said" that these people are terrorists. And the US Government is not releasing any info to backup their claims. That is why the people there should be covered by the Geneva Convention - if not other humanitarian laws. Until there is proof that these people are in fact terrorists, and not just in a bad place at a bad time, they should be offered every right offered in the US Constitution.

If you are a US citizen, you are protected by the US Constitution. And the Constitution protects it's citizens from cruel and unusual punishments, and habeaus corpus protects you from being detained without warrants or due process. Under the protection of the US Constitution, you are innocent until proven guilty.

How do you know they're terrorists without a trial? Does becoming the same evil cure the first evil or create more evil in this world? The world is a garden, not to be attacked and destroyed, but to be cultivated. Yes, every now and again you need to pull a weed, but we have processes designed so we can pull weeds without taking up a bunch of fruitful plants nearby on accident.

Your point is that they aren't. I'm with you on that. I laugh at all these people whining about water boarding. It's so easy to be better than thou. Imagine if one of these whiner's daughters were about to be gang raped and killed by a gang of thugs and they could save them by water boarding. Guess what they would say about it then?? They need to come back from La-La-Land and see the world as it is.
And you're right. Water boarding is baby torture. Read the "Rape of Nanking" to see what real torture is...

You mean like the terrible treatment those prisoners at Gitmo receive? Like the average 6 pounds they all gained, or maybe the guy who lost his leg on the battlefield but after the American doctors got him at gitmo he broke his ankle playing soccer.(yep with one leg, playing soccer, go figure)
At any rate people just want to believe the worst treatment only they don't even want to hear about the feces that the guards are bombarded with almost daily. Nor do they even understand that their tax dollars paid for the prayer rugs, and Korans.
They just refuse to hear and comprehend fact and truth.
