Muslims what do you think of this article that states the Quran said people would not get virgins but grapes? It makes sense if you read the context it was in the Quran:
78:32 Gardens enclosed, and grapevines; 78:33 And voluptuous women of equal age; 78:34 And a cup full (to the brim).

"Luxenberg tries to show that many obscurities of the Koran disappear if we read certain words as being Syriac and not Arabic. We cannot go into the technical details of his methodology but it allows Luxenberg, to the probable horror of all Muslim males dreaming of sexual bliss in the Muslim hereafter, to conjure away the wide-eyed houris promised to the faithful in suras XLIV.54; LII.20, LV.72, and LVI.22. Luxenberg 's new analysis, leaning on the Hymns of Ephrem the Syrian, yields "white raisins" of "crystal clarity" rather than doe-eyed, and ever willing virgins - the houris. Luxenberg claims that the context makes it clear that it is food and drink that is being offerred, and not unsullied maidens or houris. "
In Syriac, the word hur is a feminine plural adjective meaning white, with the word "raisin" understood implicitly. Similarly, the immortal, pearl-like ephebes or youths of suras such as LXXVI.19 are really a misreading of a Syriac expression meaning chilled raisins

I don't understand Jesus said we will all be brothers and sisters but I don't understand, Why would anybody want a lot of virgins . My wife has had 4 children for me and I couldn't Imagine if I was in heaven being with anyone else. If we were in heaven and allowed a mate my wife would be heaven to me.

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Hello. This mistranslation is done by people who do not have correct knowledge in Islam. They try to change the religion to make it more palatable to non-Muslims. It is done out of insecurity and shame of the religion.

A Muslim should not attempt to change Islam to make it sound "better" to non-Muslims. Those who understand the wisdom of Islam will understand this topic. The reason the hoor al-ayn are mentioned often along with the food and drink of Jannah is simply because they are all things that will be in Jannah so it is logical to mention them together. And Allah knows best.

May Allah guide you to the best in this world and the next. Ameen.

Fi Aman Allah,

Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

sweetie that's what happens when people try to take the quraan literally, esp when they have nothing better to do. i guess only non muslims who have no idea about islam will fall for it. we depend on several different sources for the explanation of the quraan including the prophet's sayings and why the verses were revealed to him.
if i do as they said in the article then i wouldn't start fasting at dawn, but when i see a black thread as mentioned in the quraan as a metaphor for dawn.
no muslim would take them seriously, the quraan came in arabic , the prophet made it very much clear what was meant by it and many scholars during his time and have been for 1400 years sudying every part of it.
i sure would want to have my hubby for myself in heaven , but i don't want to imagine and speculate about grape ladies/grapes, it's just plain silly.
this link shows an example of how the quraan is misinterpreted and how the prophet corrected those who misunderstood it:

Let me dry my tears first....(tha' happens when i laugh too much..sorry)...when a jewish man tries to explain the koran, you get the laughs of your life, here a verse of that same koran contradicting your beloved "jewish scholar" :

Surah : Yusef (12) verse (2) :
"We have sent it down as an ARABIC Quran, in order that ye may learn wisdom"

The quran was sent in arabic and not/with Syro-Aramaic,therefore all meaning/understanding based on somthing other than that, is purely comedy....go find another thing, i'll be here.

I like heaven because it is near to God not for it`s houries or virgins etc, and I think real muslims must think so.

This is nonsense. It is not grapes. Quran is in Arabic in its purest form.

It's a metaphore.
The grapes are the virgins.
Just like how in the Bible, Eve didn't persuade Adam to eat a fruit, she got him to have sex with her.

That is cheap propaganda fed for the stupid and idiot parrots like yourself so the evil people governing your country can achieve their hidden agenda.

And because those same evil people own the media they tell you muslims die for virgins.
Muslims commit suicide to avenge their killed fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and robbed land in palestine.

Muslims are human beings who wants to live and enjoy life but when there is no dignified life to enjoy anymore they end it in despair and take some of the robbers with them.

It all began as follows:

The jews claim that God in the Torah promised them Arab lands and they have rights to grab it with systematic military and terrorist ethnic cleansing as a fulfillment of that prophecy-their version of Holy war/Jihad.
They had already started it with palestine and openly planning the rest of crusades to capture most of the middle east (not only Palestine but from Egypt river(another adjacent Arab country through Jordan to Iraq-Greater Isreal.

They always openly quote that God said the land of Israel is from the Egyptian River to the Euphraties River(Iraq).,they want adjacent arab countries to be Israel according to what is written in the bible, they oppose any sharing or peaceful fair solution with the natives and claim the conscequence of US dividing the land of Israel is reaping a curse for US based on the bible saying

"Blessed are those who bless you & cursed are those who curse you.".

That is cursing anyone who oppose or speak against their holy terrorism agenda.

The thing is it is not like that land is empty and unpopoluated, there are people and countries living there for hundreds of years.

Isreal didnt even exist before 1948.
In history class, you learn Britain colonized a country or a land called palestine, not Israel.
During British colonization, the Jewish terrorist groups and religious zealots with crazy unrealistic biblical dreams worked towards establishing a country by use of force and consiparcy at the expense of the natives-muslim palestinians.
They committed huge massacres and ethnic cleansing reported by the United Nations, the Red Cross, human rights groups, newespapers, radios and tvs at that time.

If Jewish religion is what is motivating their action, then I consider it the root of the problem.

Then after years of injustice, when some muslim individuals started to react, all muslims were blamed and called terrorists.

I dont mean to hate, just reporting the facts, feel free to refute me.This is what I Learnt in history class and from live current events.
A report by CNN's tough journalist Christian Amanpour on God's Jewish warriors last year confirm my version. You will never understand the root of terrorism without knowing the israel palestinian conflict--
