Here are some things that some believe to be God's truth and some believe to be heresy- I am curious to know how many believe what. I know where I stand, and I abide by scriptures- so if you can give any scripture references, and ones that ACTUALLY pertain to what these questions are, that is fantastic!
So true or false?
1.Departed loved ones are watching over us from Heaven?
2. All who die in infancy and early childhood will go to Heaven?
3. Hell cannot be as bad as preachers of old used to describe it?
(These questions are taken from a bible study I attend)

False
Unknown but likely, since they never reached the age of accountability
Hell is every bit as harsh. The fires do not die out.

All of these doctrines can be argued, because it is possible to find verses in the bible that both support them or reject them.

I am guessing you are an SDA or JW??

"the dead are sleeping" is a doctrine taught by both. But in order to maintain that doctrine, special concessions need to be made for Elijah (swept into heaven on a Chariot), and Moses who appeared with Christ.

Dead Babies, another issue that Christians disagree on, which can be argued with different verses in the bible.

Hell is a bad place. There are 7 different types of hell described in the bible. If Daniel and Jeremiah disagreed about the nature of Hell, how can any human today possibly have the answer without blind faith in a position??

What Christians should really talk about is not Hell, afterall they aren't headed there.....They should talk about heaven, and what Eternity means for accomplishment, value and meaning in life.

If life has no end, how can it have meaning. Eternity is a horrific concept when thought through to conclusion. I can't understand why people would give up this life, to try and achieve it.

1.Departed loved ones are watching over us from Heaven?

If they are in heaven then yes. God is able to infuse in them knowledge of externals and particulars until the re-unification of the soul with the body when all bodies will be resurrected.

2. All who die in infancy and early childhood will go to Heaven?

If they have been baptised yes. If not, only God knows.

3. Hell cannot be as bad as preachers of old used to describe it?

It is certainly a horrible state of being, if one believes in the bible references to it. The "preachers of old" were using both literal and symbolic language to describe hell which is beyond human comprehension. Same thing in regards to heaven.

You start out with a false premise in that all the above have to be found nearly verbatim in the scripture. Legitimate reasoning processes are valid based upon some scripture verses and themes. Matt 16, verse 18-19 give the Catholic Church the infallible authority to formulate dogmas. One doctrine is called the community of saints indicating all the living and the dead are united. All infants who are baptised will definitely go to heaven. It is still debatable as to what happens to unbaptised infants; except, they cannot go to hell, but possibly to a limbo of natural happiness. However, we can only speculate as to whether a special test or trial is given to them at death. Hell is simply the loss of God for whom we were made. But this deprivation will involve the areas of sin we committed in an effort to solve a particular important problem we had.

1) Our departed loved ones are asleep in the grave.

Psalm 6:5 If I die, I cannot praise you or even remember you.
Psalm 115:17 The dead are silent and cannot praise the LORD,
Psalm 146:4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

2) I know of no text which specifically supports or refutes this belief

3) If the belief in eternal torment of the wicked is true, then the following text is a lie.

Revelation 21:4 (KJV) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

1. Not always. Even loved ones can go to hell if they did not accept Jesus.

2. They have not reached the age of accountability. They are with the Lord~ Praise God!

3. I think hell is probably Worst than they could ever try and describe.

how about this, from all the different translations and "meanings" gleaned from the bible...how can one singular persons view on how to live life be correct? I live by a set of rules, I believe that when some one needs to talk that they should be heard and listened to, care for and about others (simply because you never know when you will need to be cared for), realize that there is often times more than one side to story as well....there are many other rules that I have and they are what I live by as I said, however who can say if the bible is not just a guide that those that wrote it wanted people to live by and not to take as literal truth?

All three have no Biblical support.

No.2 is based on a verse where Jesus says "suffer the little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven"

but he didn;t say that they will go to heaven when they die, he just said (and elsewhere too) that if we want to go to heaven we should be as children. That means pure and innocent.

No. 3 is from the pseudepigraphical writings which say that the righteous will pray to God to forgive the sinners, and so there'll be no hell. It is possible. Because God is merciful. But there is no biblical support for it either.

1. It is easier to accept the passing of a loved one if you believe that they are still there, watching over you in heaven. I am not in a position to criticize this reasoning, but I do agree that if it were true it would be worth believing in. Benefit of the doubt - True

2. I would like to believe that they do, for they are still innocent. I would however have like the reasoning better if it had stated that their "spirits" or "souls" were then passed on to another body so that they might have the chance to experience life. Benefit of the doubt - True

3. I do not believe in hell or heaven, I believe that we are beings materializing from a greater energy force, we move from one body (when we die) to another, be it human or animal form. I believe that death is not the end, it merely represents the choices we have made in life affected by circumstances in our immediate environment. So, I think this statement concerning hell is false.

1/2 ) Both false. The dead simply cease to exist. (Ecclesiates 9:5,6,10). They do, however, have the hope of a resurrection life on a restored earth as promised by Jesus (John 5:28,29)

3) True. Hell is simply the grave. Not a place of fiery torment. If it were, why would Job ask to be concealed from his suffering in hell (Job 14:13)

1) contradicts scripture false 2)Eternal life depends on accepting the marriage contract of YHVH, accepting His name and following His rules. No 3)"Hell" is the purifying fire in which sin and sinners are consumed. It is intense, but temporary. A necessary purification so He can make all things new (see Rev.21:5) Don't swallow the "bible study" whole. Most teach lies!
