Attila the Hun is a very important person in Turkey's history. I would like to learn your opinions on him and this TV program.

Tes: it is educational and historical yes. If you want to to see you can download it on internet. It is also in English. I certainly don't like propagandas.

Leprechaun: I understood you very well that's why you got a thumb up from me.
I know that you love history and so do I. I read different things about Attila. In some foreign books they say he was Turkish.
But again as you said where he was from was not really important for me. The influence, the impact he made. He was a man of his time.

Europe, Asia, Africa... all the empires of that times were acting the same. At that time the most important thing was to conquer.
To my young Alana i have to teach things i know. For example last time i asked her what St Barthelemy was, she didn't know the answer so she just changed the subject. I think Some of us need to relax and try to understand the situation of those times.
Don't say to people you are barbaric and stuff because all our ancestors did exactly the same thing.

Misviv: did i say something like that?
The main question before you trolls arrived was:
Did you watch, what do you think about it?
Who says we worship someone?

First of all I have to say to ipek, that I'm very disappointed with her coz sweety, you have to know that in 21 century blood has no other color than red and also, there are many people that they love Turkey.
Actually, Attila Han is a great historical figure, but this doesn't make him saint. He fought and he killed for his beliefs. So, he had blood in his hands - if you know what I mean! Just like Alexander the Great or other great men.
I haven't see the TV program, because I'm frοm Greece, but I hope we are talking about an educational and historical program and not for propaganda (media worldwide tend towards this sometimes)

I see that you are very intelligent. What worries me is that you are very arrogant towards other people. It´s obvious that you believe that your opinion is far better than that of others. We all have the right of an opinion of our own as well as you have!

Do you know the history of some other country than your own? Sorry, don´t want to sound rude, but I can see why people get angry at you. We are all living on this only globe of ours (as the moon is not available yet), so why could we not discuss matters with sense and not in anger over others, who don´t think like we do??

I wish you a Happy New Year!

No i haven't dear, but i'd like to see it.

I was researching about him once, but i found out that it is not certain if he was Turkish or not. When i was a kid, history books were saying he was Turkish, but..History books were written very badly those times. Not objective, only to make Turkish kids happy and proud.Man, i remember what was written about WW1.:

"We were claimed to be defeated because Germans were defeated" Not much longer i learned that we couldn't win a single battle other than a couple of them.Anyway not to get away from the subject, there are still too much conflicts about some historical figures,if they were Mongolian or Turkish. It is also possible that Mongols and Turks had a blood intersection by marriage in some time.

But one thing i know,he was a brave and a successful soldier. Some idiots say he was just a barbarian killer, are racist rats. What did Roman Empire do?they killed, conquered, controlled the world, took slaves..But they were the symbols of culture and civilization right? And what did the Huns do differently from The Romans? Let me tell you: Nothing. Only they were Asiatic and instead of killing their leaders, they respected him.

This also shows us that Europeans always do discrimination,in every area possible.

Sorry if i couldn't express myself. I wish i could tell these in Turkish or could speak better English.

Brutal savagery was something to be proud of a thousand years ago. Most of the world has known better. You keep worshipping your murderers, keep saying that your soldiers are the best, you think brute strength is something to be proud of, and you wonder why the rest of the world thinks you're a primitive savage.

When courage really counts, like admitting the armenian genocide, you cowardly protest with a million excuses and claim yourself faultless. Very brave indeed. NOT.

*i think , only two emperor can manage Ä°stanbul (other greeks).Attila and Fatih Sultan Mehmed.
*Attila Han is a model for Fatih and M.KAtatürk .
*Especially about toleration of religion and to be fair!
(Tanrı'nın kötülükler üzerine inen kırbacı)
*Attila's positive attempt against to Pope 1. Leo is similarly to the M.K.Atatürk's positive attempt to the national flag of Greek end of the Büyük taarruz. This is very important...

lol.. Attila the Hun the barbarian? Important in Turkeys history?...lolol Oh the folly..but then again for a people who systematically slaughtered over 1 million Armenians I suppose that ancient savage would be important in Turkeys history? by the way is Turkey stuck in some sort of bizarre cross cultural limbo? which do you people want to be European or Eastern?
