I am a health consultant. Multiply your body weight in pounds by 7. That is what your calorie intake should be every day if you are trying to lose weight. If you want to maintain it at the present level then your intake should be equal to your body weight in pounds multiplied by 12. Hope this answers your question.

It's very, very bad for you and an extremely poor recomendation.

The lowest anybody should go is 1200 calories, and that's only if you've stopped growing. If you're still under the age of 21 you shouldn't be taking in less than 1800 calories a day. That is unless you want to be as short as possible.

If you were to be at a 1000 calorie diet for more than a few days you'd go into starvation mode which is really bad. Your body shuts down to the bare minimum, it starts eating it's own tissues to survive and any food it does get is transformed into fat as insurance. You will however lose weight, but it's all muscle mass, not to mention from your organs and bones as well.

When you start eating normally again, all of your food is turned to fat and you regain what you lost plus several pounds more.

If you want to lose 2 pounds a week this is what you do:

Do cardio work 6 times a week for an hour at a time. On the 7th day do some light cardio like walking. Depending on what you do, you can lose an average of 600-800 calories a day. I myself can do about 1200 if I push it. So after 6 days you've lost between 3600-4800 calories. Congratulations that's at least a pound right there as 1 pound of fat = 3500 calories.

As for your diet, figure out your BMR (base metabolic rate) this is the minimum your body needs to maintain itself. Then figure out your activity level and this will give you the total amount of calories you need in 1 day to maintain your weight as it is. There are calculators on the internet to help you with this. Take that number and reduce it by 500 calories. So if it were to tell you that you need a total of 2500 calories a day, reduce it to 2000 and that's what you eat. Again, after 1 week you've lost another pound simply by eating less.

No its not. You will want between 1500 - 2000 depending upon your normal calorie intake is and how much exercising you do. Remember its not just low calories that will help. You need to insure that you are eating lean meats, fruits and vegies, some grains and drinking tons of water.

Also, be sure to remember to exercise. Like I've said in other posts just eating healthy, and just working out won't help you either. Your body needs more than just daily activities to burn off more calories.

If you want to lose weight and NOT exercise then yes you have to severely restrict your calories. But it's not healthy and not realistic. You should eat at least 1500 calories and exercise, then you will lose weight the healthy way.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

It is realistic if you are a dwarf. I don't mean any disrespect to little people...I just mean that you would have to be a very, very small adult to eat so little. You shouldn't be on a diet less than 1200 calories without doctor supervision.

No, I would suggest not lowering your calories intake to that degree. Sticking with 1200 calories and exercising will get you the results your looking for in a much healthier way that will also aid in keeping the weight off.

basically in order to find out how much calories per day an individual need is to multiply the person's weight by 10 so let's say you weigh 110 x 10 = 1,100 calories/day is what that person needs...but if you want to lose weight you should exercise and eat healtier =)
