When I was 5 years old I got the chicken pox, but it was caught very early and I was given a shot to stop it, because my mom was pregnant. So, I have no clue whether I can get it or not. And I'm freakin out because this guy I work with has shingles and I worked with him like twice while he had it...and I read that you can get chicken pox from someone who had shingles..uhmm.. HELP? thanks =]

If you are concerned that you might not be immune to chicken pox there is a chicken pox vaccine that can boost your immunity. However, if you get it you will still have to wait a couple of weeks until your antibody levels rise, so you should still stay away from your coworker.

Chicken pox is from the shingles family. There is an immunity test that you can get at the Health Department. This should help. If you touched the shingles, then you have to worry. That is how it is spread. I also learned from my Contagious Diseases class that it can also be transmitted by droplet. In other words, if a shingles patient coughs on you, you may get it.

Once you have had chicken pox or the vaccine, you are immune to it, and you can't catch shingles from him. There is one catch - if you had chicken pox, it can stay dormant in your body for decades and pop back up as shingles, so there's no guarantee that you won't develop shingles later in life (but this has nothing to do with you infected co-worker).

Yes, you can. Why is a guy with shingles in a workplace?

Yes, you can catch it again but it's rare. Wash your hands often and if you start feeling cruddy, go see a doctor and let them know what you have been exposed to.
