Being good means what it says. Acting good is NOT being good, and being good does not 'earn' one 'points' from God.
There are some religions that 'balance', but one religion that is not a religion, but a relationship. That being with Jesus Christ. The only way one finds out about him is through the Word of God, known as the Bible.
Now, there are people in Islam, Budhism, and Christianity who do NOT walk the talk. However, the books which govern Islam and Budhism do not have recommendations for becoming better, rather than bitter. In Christianity, 'betterness' is wrapped up in a person, that being Jesus Christ.
But...even belief in Christ does not make you good. It makes you even more aware of your shortcomings...BUT you have someone whom to lean on, that being Christ IF you study his word and walk in his ways.
You need to make the determination for your self, based upon the evidence you see!

Good people can have bad feelings and thoughts. It's how you handle those thoughts and feelings that matters. It you act on them in a bad way then you aren't being very good.
I would think being good is treating others the way you want to be treated. Say hello to people once in a while, open a door, let a car on the freeway in front of you. Just have a kind heart. To sum it up be Christ like at all times, ask your self would God like what I just did or said. If the answer is No then your not doing good.

Yes, they were being very mean. A lot of people don't like other people who claim to be vegetarian for some odd reason. Part of the reason is that many young people who claim to be vegetarians only do it for a bit and then they're not vegetarians any more. What they meant by their statement is that the only meat you eat is your dad's penis. Sorry to be so blunt, but that's what they meant. It's stupid I know, but they're being pretty stupid about the whole thing.

"Good" means "in accord with my values" -- so "being good" means acting in accord with your values, or the values of whoever is doing the judging.
Being good does not mean never having bad thoughts or feelings -- everyone has thoughts or feelings that conflict with their own values at some times. Denying that you have such thoughts and feelings, repressing them, is a huge source of neurosis, even psychosis maybe. Trying to pretend that you never have bad thoughts and feelings can cause an awful lot of damage to yourself.

It's not easy being good. Trying to see the good parts in people, overlooking the bad. We're human, we can't control feelings but we can learn how to deal and cope with them. If you can learn to do that, and it's not easy, you're on your way to being truly happy. Good Luck...

Humans cannot really be good, even Jesus said not to call Him good but call the Father good. And Jesus was Perfect. So where does that put us. All we can do is put our trust in Jesus and believe and have faith that He will do what He says He will do, Jesus said that we must be born again, John 3:3, if we are born again we will see the Kingdom of God. I believe that, Sin is forever present with us as long as we are in these mortal bodies but when we pass from death unto life we will put immortality the Bible says and will be as the angels in Heaven. Praise the Lord. Of course if you have not accept Jesus Christ as Saviour then the lake of fire is your destination with the satan himself. That doesn't sound to promising. With the resurrection of Jesus from the grave He made it so easy to born again that anyone ever born can do so immediately if they believe. The Bible says we are saved by grace thru faith in Jesus. Do you believe in Jesus? Have you ever been saved? If you would like to be come a Christian just pray this sinners prayer of Faith believing in Jesus with all your heart and soul, just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen.
