You need to provide a little bit more information. What brand & model camera are you using?
How many Megapixels is the sensor?
What Image Format and Quality settings are you using? (TIFF, RAW, and DNG settings will use up memory very quickly, JPG High will also be pretty intense)
Does your camera allow Video mode? (If it does, one Vid clip can be the same as many pictures).
Check the manual for instructions on setting the mode and try changing it to a lower "Quality" mode. You will need to find out what is the best balance between quality and number of pictures to meet your needs. If you want to take mostly snapshots and only need 4" x 6" prints or shots to send on the internet you can use a lower setting then if you want to print 11 x 14 inch pictures to frame & hang on the wall.
Hope that helps. email if you have specific questions about a camera and its settings.

Buying a larger memory card is not really a solution in my opinion. First of all you will have to find out why you cannot store more pictures on the card.
Check the following:
Does your camera really store the pics on the card or are they stored in the internal memory. (Have a look at your camera manual if you are not sure how find out were the pics are stored)
Check the file size of each picture and the file format. For storing more pics it should be JPEG (.jpg) and the size should not be more than 2 MB. If it is e.g. TIFF (.tif) you most likely use an uncompressed file format and files are too large (as long as you do not intend doing a lot of manipulations afterwards)
Check the pixel size (resolution) of your pics. I'd say a maximum of approx. 3000 pixels on the longer side should do as long as you do not intend to have them printed as posters.
Check the card if other files use up a lot of space - maybe a videosequence you took with the cam and forgot to delete.
You might also try to reformat the card - before you do that save all the pics from the camera to your computer. Format the card through the format function of your camera - do not use the computer to do this. Formatting the card will delete all data on it and setup the card new with the directories your camera needs.

It is probably the size of the photos you are taking. If you are taking Big sized Megapixel pictures, it takes up more space.
a 7MP camera with a 256mb card can hold about 100 photos at that size. You must have a large megapixel camera.
You should go here and look for another memory card that's compatible with your camera:
sandisk.com
if it's a memorystick duo then you might want to go here to buy:

You can get more pictures on it if:
You use 640x480 resolution, then set your compression settings to the "normal" mode.
BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT.
Do like everyone here is telling you. Buy the bigger memory card. They are cheap these days.

i would also recommend getting a bigger card.
you should also select a smaller picture size, this will make the picture take up less space on your card
