Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Saturnalia (aka Christmas), but they do recognize the relative subjection which an employee owes to an employer.
If a message needed to be delivered to a person at the party, or if there were some other momentary practical matter to be attended to, then it seems possible that a Jehovah's Witness might go to the party to complete that momentary task, while avoiding any behavior which might imply that he joins in the celebration of some pagan god and festival (such as Saturn and Saturnalia).
Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. They do NOT celebrate so-called "Christmas" because "Christmas" does NOT celebrate Christ; "Christmas" celebrates the pagan Saturnalia. Jesus was not even born in December. Nearly all so-called Christmas customs dishonor Christ.
(Jeremiah 10:2-5) This is what Jehovah has said: "Do not learn the way of the nations at all... 3 For the customs of the peoples are just an exhalation, because it is a mere tree out of the forest that one has cut down, the work of the hands of the craftsman with the billhook. 4 With silver and with gold one makes it pretty. With nails and with hammers they fasten them down, that none may reel. ...the doing of any good is not with them."

By contrast, it's tragic that the one holiday Christ actually *DID* ask Christians to commemorate is entirely ignored by almost all of Christendom. It is, of course, the Memorial of Christ's death, sometimes called "the Last Supper" or "the Lord's Evening Meal".
(1 Corinthians 11:23-25, NWT) The Lord Jesus in the night in which he was going to be handed over took a loaf... Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 25 He did likewise respecting the cup.. Keep doing this... in remembrance of me.”
(1 Cor 11:24, 25, NEB) "Do this as a memorial of me.”
Christ Jesus himself personally celebrated and explained the significance of that Last Supper to his followers (see Matthew 26:26-29). Christians who commemorate the Last Supper have done so on the same Jewish calendar date as Jesus did, Nisan 14, which generally falls between late March and mid-April. Interestingly, Christians in the centuries immediately after Christ's impalement were sometimes called "Quartodecimans" which literally mean "Fourteen-ers", because the early Christians were well-known for this true holy day.
How would Jesus feel to learn that the holiday he commanded was widely ignored, while his so-called followers chose to celebrate a pagan false god and their own traditions of men? We don't need to wonder.
(Matthew 15:6-9) You have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said, 8 ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

No. we do not want to cause anyone to observe us and stumble into a false belief or bad impression. We keep clean as we can from things that would displease Jehovah.
I have many years worked so those who do celebrate Christmas could attend the parties. Just because we refuse to celebrate a holiday does not make us unfeeling people.
I have never been a "party person" in my entire life, but I have attended other non-holiday parties. Everyone, including Jehovah and Jesus, has a sense of humor and likes a good non-holiday party.

I can't promise that someone will NEVER be able to say a witness showed up for a xmas party.
But I can say for myself that, as a Witness, I won't show up for a xmas party.
1) for Biblical reasons, I do not mix pagan practices in with my worship
2) based on fact, Jesus was not born on 12/25, and I was not agreeable to the JW's at the time, but when I found this out from some Catholics, I stopped celebrating xmas because I felt like it was WRONG.
3) i will not compromise what I feel is wrong just to enjoy 3 hours of merriment with others. Trust me, we eat enough in this office to choke a pig..I don't need another excuse to do so.

Yes, Sarah, there are donation bins on the conventions and sure, we're stimulated to supply and do since we wish to. There are volunteers who preserve the bins or preserve an eye fixed on them and that is since, no longer simplest witnesses move to those conventions, however interested ones, and many others and thus it's prudent to preserve an eye fixed at the donation bins. As I mentioned in my final reply: not anything is unfastened on this international, so it's particularly ordinary and correct for this to arise, however NEVER are we made to consider dangerous if we do not positioned cash in!!!!

I personally am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. As such I don't involve myself in Christmas. However, there are times when an event happens around me, example.
I went to a dinner, during said dinner a Birthday was celebrated. I stepped out for a few minutes, let them go, then came back and finished the dinner.
No problem.

Christmas is a celebration for pagan FALSE gods, so we would NEVER want to offend Jehovah the TRUE God by giving them such an honor as a celebration.

Doubtful you will see one there.
The Watchtower Dec. 15, 1984 says that the most serious danger of celebrating Christmas is that it could lead to losing God's favor and we as Jehovah's Witnesses realize that to celebrate Christmas would mean being brought before a judicial committee and then kicked out.
Well the Watchtower says that God never intended that Christians should celebrate the birth of His Son. In their eyes it has always been wrong.

My hubby is a JW (though currently inactive). He owns his own business and he does not participate in any office parties. BUT, he doesn't interfere with his employees celebrating without him (they go to a restaurant and the business pays for it).
So, no, JW's don't participate in such activities but we don't stop others from celebrating if they so desire.

NOPE! No holidays for them! Why in the world someone would want to be a part of that religion is beyond me. They have great morales and values I'll give them that but there version of the bible is totally not the true translation and I don't think Christ cares for people alternating his word. Oh well it's close maybe God will give them a pardon for following a false prophet hopefully he'll take it easy on Mormons to. Those guys have no idea what a lier Joseph Smith was.
