I'm asking this to get someone to tell me, exactly, what drivers should be installed, would any other video applications cause any type of conflict and in the answerers opinion, is MS Windows Media Player the 'best' for showing video? This problem is happening on both my desktop (Vista, home) and laptop (XP Prof.) I tried going to the MS "help" forums, looking through endless drivel, called FAQs and other "help", and still this issue has not been resolved with this problem. So I'd like to open it up to some of the professionals that I believe are still out there.

There could be a number of factors:

Slow internet connection
Low end video card
Low memory
High CPU utilization

You can also try downloading VLC which is a spiffy Free, OpenSource video player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

the other two answers are partially correct, but it sounds like its more than just internet related video thats problematic for you. first of all, try closing everything else besides your media player, then disconnect from the internet, if you see some improvment in your dvd and/or mpeg video quality, then you probably just need to add more ram. let me know if this helps or if you arent sure how to add ram. there are other ways to free up your computers' resources which is what is needing to happen here more than likely. s.michaelwall@yahoo.com

When streaming video, the biggest factor is "internet connection speed. If yours isn't fast enough, then the stream will hesitate and be jumpy.
