Stairs are much more difficult for an older person with mobility issues than a straight, flat path. I think you are being unfair to judge her as you do not know what either hurts her or makes her fearful for her safety. Just help her, be nice, and keep your mouth shut.

I had a stroke last year and the one thing that I cannot handle is stairs. The movement of climbing throws me off balance and I panic almost every time. I'm not sure why your MIL is in a walker but if its balance issues, that might explain it.

What I'm wondering is why you are so jealous of this woman that you have a problem with a simple act of kindness on your husbands part.

Maybe she was just having a harder time on the stairs at your house.
As she was leaving are there stairs too?
I don't know, if there is maybe she feels as though she needs to get her sons attention more with you and feels she has to compete you never know its hard to read mother-in-laws!
Don't take it personally just let it go life is to precious to waste on little things. It may not be a little thing to you but in the long run it is!

elderly human beings get baby-like. My dad could seem around to confirm who replaced into staring at earlier status up together with his walker. He made it look because it it have been a extensive attempt. yet he would desire to nip over and thieve a cookie with (very nearly) a pass in his step!

They get lazier as they get older, all your husband's doing is making a rod for his own back the more he is willing to do the more she will let him, trust me I work with the elderly I know all their tricks.
