(Do lemurs ever wax loudly?)

In a way, that's a bit freer than Y!A because it is definitely not a democracy here. Sometimes it's closer to mob rule; if you say something a group of answerers don't like, they can shut you down quick, even though they're the minority.

Yahoo! has a report button, but not a "right on" button or a "yeah, dude!" button, so only the squeaky wheels get heard.

You always have the right to free speech. You can write to your congressperson. You can send a letter to the editor of your paper. You can speak, to pretty much anyone you choose, against the current government (without advocating its violent overthrow, of course) and not be arrested. That's free speech. It's not just bloviating on YA or writing graffiti (which happens to be vandalism).
