I had the strangest dream last night. My husband was in our living room watching television and walked into the room and was standing behind the couch he was sitting on. I stopped suddenly because I saw huge yellow snake with brown and green markings laying on the floor at his feet. The instant the snake saw me it slithered toward me as if to attack me. It lunged at me and I thought it would bite me, but instead slithered down the collar of my shirt and came out my pant leg. It did it one more time and both times I was terrified. I don't remember seeing my husband after the snake came toward me. After the second time through my clothes I vomited in the dream and felt very ill, but the snake hadn't bit me.

In the dream you're not too pleased to see this snake but your husband seems quite comfortable with it OR doesn't notice its presence. I have a feeling this symbolizes someone your husband is close to whom you don't like\ are not comfortable with. Then when you approach your husband, the snake tries to attack you. Perhaps it symbolizes that this person doesn't like you either and is trying to keep you away from him. Your husband on the other hand is evidently doing nothing... He's just not there. Vomiting symbolizes disgust so something about the situation is disgusting you. Feeling ill could symbolize an unnatural state of being (unhappiness, etc).

Alternatively the snake could symbolize something (a situation\emotion\event etc) that is "stopping" you from reaching out to\connecting with your husband. Either way the dream symbolizes that something is blocking you from reaching your husband.

The snake could also symbolize fear: It actually doesn't harm you but just threatens you and you end up getting scared.

Please note that your husband in the dream doesn't have to symbolize your husband in real life. He could be representing someone else (probably someone you're close to or someone who has similar characteristics) or even some aspect of you. In the latter case, you might be having a hard time connecting with yourself\ being too scared to connect with yourself.

Very often, snakes in dreams are used as a phallus symbol and may have a sexual connotation. That is what classical dream interpreters tend to say about snakes in general. Of course, it could just be your symbol for anything scary or bad in your life. Very rarely are they about literal snakes unless there were recent events involving snakes. The snakes could be troubles or obstacles, and you have important people in your life coming to your aid.
