The best Christmas photo I have ever taken is of my girlfriend and I in front of a fireplace and tree, three years ago. It was our first Christmas together. I take so many pictures of her and of us together but that one is my best not only because it was our first Christmas together but because of the way it turned out. I have it framed and sitting on my desk.

It may be the in-home shot I took of two little girls that the mother had dressed up for their family Xmas card.

The kind were rambunctious, animated and completely without discipline. With every shot, they, each, had to "act up" and mug to the camera.

Still, after an hour of shooting, maybe a hundred and fifty exposures, I managed one EXCELLENT shot of big sister giving the little one a great big, grinning hug. It was a medium range, torso to head, that showed off their faces and pretty hair ribbons, and enough of their matching velour outfits so that mama was not too disappointed that I did not manage to get their expensive Mary Jane shoes in the frame.

A LOT of the other shots were excellent for their comic value, but none of them were suitible for mama's Xmas card. She did buy a half dozen prints of the funny ones.

She even made me a sandwich in the middle of the ordeal.

I used to have two traditional shots. One was someone sleeping under a table somewhere after one of the kids propped an empty wine or champagne bottle on their chest and the other is someone's butt as they bend down to pick up a present or something.

I don't mind showing this one either. 1/4 second hand-held: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/2111689429/

These wouldn't mean anything to most people, but here is a composite showing how one young lady tried ot turn her hospital room into a festive space. It says a lot to me.

One of my small, fuzzy cats curled up in front of the manger under the tree and went to sleep. Took a picture with no flash and she was illuminated by the orange glow of the bulb in the manger. Special now that she passed away this year.

During my years as an art student I found a mummified mouse in the box with X-mas stuff. It ended up as decoration in the tree with a nice red bow. I took it's picture and send that out as a x-mas card. Only a few people noticed it was a dead mouse.

Lovely picture.

One of a friend of mine falling backwards off a bar-stool with her legs in the air.
PS. Sorry, I suppose that did come across as a bit coarse, I'll remove the bit you don't take to as you can't see the glint in my eye.

I have not taken many and I'm by no means a professional, but this is my favorite:
